The fact that “favour” was an OPTION for such a filthy rich family, is so disgusting that he should be dead when she start singing. It would be a fair trade if it happened.

Neil Aspinall nope, he sold her a rainbow. Charlotte Church was already that good and well known. She was not looking for a break. Charlotte was the one with the gift. Her voice. And if he wanted satisfaction as he specifically wanted, I.e. that girl, that voice and that song, no matter what. He should have paid her something. Say ten grand as a knock down fee, plus guaranteed front page publicity for a week.

@@Neil-Aspinall She was very famous in the UK at the time and for quite a while afterwards. But the tabloid press were brutal to her when she got a bit older and stopped behaving like an angel, so no. Never accept the offer of an unspecified "favour" from a Murdoch. Just take the cold, hard cash, but know that you are dealing with the devil. No disrespect to Charlotte, she was 13 and very badly advised.

To be fair, the effects of that are not necessarily always so severe for women as they are for men, whose voices break. Maybe she got lucky

Yes, she was told to turn down the money and just sing "as a favour to him" in order to get exposure. Disgusting behaviour by the uber rich. He should have just paid her. I guess the richer you are, the more you expect people to do things for free :(

Pee ay a zoo. I grew up singing in the met opera for 15 a show with 2 of the 3 tenors and had no management. Mom asked me if James Levine molested boys? I said I didn't see that. Mom is Jewish. I didnt have a voice on a real adult spoil until 17. My friend with the family name Butts told me to try out for the Met Opera while I was in peace temple. My x worked for W. Ya sey sholom!
