A lot of Vivaldi's compositions do feel like early (very early!) steps towards the rhythm, speed, and power of metal. He often pushed the instruments to their limits in a way that was ahead of his time. Check out his composition La Follia (The Madness) sometime--I've heard it described as "heavy wood".

The "singing" with annoying vocals destroys a good portion of metal for us non-metalheads. Even if the underlying music is top quality not everybody can tolerate that shouting. Then those lyrics, the concepts of metal is not everybody's cup of tea. If the vocals could sohehow get detached from the metal music then probably 15% of the music would become attractive to non-metalheads. The other 85% is still trash.

With all possible respect towards mr. Mustaine - WTF? Vivaldi would need no Megadeth (to be more precise - Mustaine). He would be another living legend with the best musicians possible around him. I even dare to presume Dave himself would be just a session rythm guitarist in some Vivaldi's band/project/record. A happy session rythm guitarist, by the way, and, IMHO, this scenario seems more accurate and realistic. Once again - with all possible respect towards mr. Mustaine.

I always love hearing metal covers of classical music. It works so well, especially Mozart. My first exposure to it was a band called Scatterbrain, who would put a Mozart cover on each album. Then I love to find new Neoclassical bands and give a listen. My favorite I have found is Exmortus. They're like Death Thrash with heavy classical melodies and classical covers.

A. Awesome! Not just the transcribing for bass guitar, but to actually play it! B. Why isn't like a bass guitar / cello Frankenstein's Monster Bass a thing which exists? LOL Throw in a drum set made of kettle drums and an electric violin. Accompany both sides of the coin with traditional instruments and modern electrics to round out the sound of the orchestra, and you have a seriously amazing concert in the making just breathing new life into old music! C. Also, I kind of want to see that stodgy pianist guy rocking a guitar like you do. I wonder if it's possible to tux-tail bang. (Like headbanging meets twerking?)

This kinda reminds me on the soundtrack of the game "The End is Nigh", where every track is based on a classical piece, remixed with drums and guitars. It was the actual reason i started to listen to classic music

Everything was awesome in this video. I'm a classical, metal, blues, electro, dubstep etc etc fan and this was the best ever video I encountered. Oh by the way I am an organ composer. I compose dark techno vampire pieces and this is what I would prefer to see in future. A perfect blend of classical, metal, techno is what I consider a masterpiece. Truth be told anything u post is awesome beyond words charles brother. U made my day.

I mean, I keep hearing about "classically trained" metal musicians, so this actually makes perfect sense to me. I always thought Beethoven's Eine Kline Nacht Music's third movement was basically metal on a piano. This is to say nothing of later composers like Rachmaninoff. And Vivaldi has a special place in my heart as I learned to play most of 4 Seasons on the violin as a teen, while only really coming to love metal as an older adult. LOVED that comparison. Thanks!

You're probably thinking of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (which is indeed metal as hell). "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" is by Mozart, and its third movement is very playful (like most of Mozart).

I figured there’s no way I was the only one thinking it. Don’t get me wrong- this was great, but I still sounded like classical played on top of metal. Distortion and a wah (à la Cliff Burton) would have put these WAY over the top!

Vivaldi was basically the first metal composer. My favorite as a cellist is his concerto in G minor, RV 531 for two cellos. Beethoven's sonata pathetique also rocks pretty hard.
