What you made was superb! I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist too, but omg, your earrings are way superior to whatever I ever tried. 😅

You’re very kind, but it sounds like you’re just as harsh on yourself as I am. Your creations are beautiful :)❤️

You'll never see this, but I can relate. I'm now 41 and have spent my whole life not doing things because I was never good enough. For anyone who feels this way, please don't let 20 (or more) years pass you by. There are two amazing books that have helped me a lot, both by Professor Steve Peters, the Chimp Paradox followed by A Path Through the Jungle. They have a lot of really great context into why some of us feel like our stuff needs to be perfect. It's been a game changer for me, maybe it's a little too late for me to change my ways, only time will tell. Please know that as you grow older, we learn that there is no such thing as perfect, and we can only become masters through the very act of failing. Failure is just another word for learning, because when we 'fail' it gives room for us to learn and for growth within us to happen 💕

I am new to you... Love miniatures... Your work is awesome, and your ideas too. Quirky stuff like this doesn't require perfection. That said, I'm the same way... Have watched things like this for years... Have the clay, resin, etc. but haven't had the guts to even start... And I'm in my 50's...

You’re very sweet! Thank you for the kind words 💕 Regardless of age, we tend to be our harshest critics. It’s hard. I wish I could give some words of advice to make it stop, but obviously, I’m not the best person for that. I was a kid when I first started sculpting, and I hadn’t been conditioned to doubt myself yet. I guess I’m lucky for that because I would be hesitant to start today as well. That being said, I really hope you give clay and resin a try soon :) Embark on this journey with me, and try to embrace the imperfections and progress ❤️ It’s not easy, but I think our future selves will thank us.

I completely understand your issues with perfectionism. I deal with that too. But I finally got a handle on it a few years back. My questions would have been different than what I'm going to present to you because my situation was different than what yours. First of all I realized that even when I finally feel like it's perfect enough, it's actually still not perfect because I'm human and I'm not going to be perfect, so I reminded myself over and over again that perfection is an unattainable goal. Then I asked myself which would be better? In your case, to put out two videos a year and never grow my channel, or to put out consistent videos that may not be up to my standards but that others will still enjoy, and I may actually see some progress for my hard work? Because you have to be realistic with yourself. If you're putting out a couple videos a year, your channel is not going to grow. You're too talented to let your perfectionism hold you back. The only way to fight the perfectionism is to be very diligent and intentional with it. When you feel like you can't post because it's not good enough you have to purposefully and intentionally push that feeling aside and post it anyway. It will be so hard the first few times but it'll get easier as you do it more and more.

I needed to hear this. I’m not going to lie, the idea of posting things I don’t love is quite scary to me, but I know you’re right. I guess I really do just have to push through the discomfort until it gets easier. I promise to keep reminding myself of this. Thank you by the way! You’re insanely kind, and I appreciate you so much ❤️❤️

These are soooo adorable! SO precise, the wineglasses blew my mind. 🤯 (also, I'm also clinically depressed and contribute to society by making tiny things, so this makes me happy.) (also also, some of my projects take over a year also, so no judgement. creativity takes time. 🤓 ) And finally, I understand the anxiety & self-criticism & obsession you mention in the last voiceover. It can be hard. But I feel like people would understand (and even enjoy) seeing videos where things don't work out. "Meme clay gone wrong! You won't believe what happens next! 😱" Take care!

Thank you so much for being so kind ❤️ Yeah, I guess no one holds me to the same standard I hold myself to. I just gotta convince my brain of that. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this out btw. It made me feel better :)

@@ithecrafter Aw you're welcome! I'm glad. ☺ Self-criticism can be hard, and artist are their own worst critics. I joined a painting class and found it was nice to have (a few) people working around me and struggling but also encouraging each other. 🧑‍🎨

While I was watching you make everything, I was admiring your genius for coming up with ways to construct your pieces...like wow 👌👏 and then I heard your talk at the end and it felt sad that you can't see your own wonderfulness or don't believe you have it. You add a little more to the world by being you 🩷 You were so brave to even speak about this issue. Please take care of yourself and give yourself a little more appreciation because you deserve that 💝 and thank you for sharing your creations/videos with us because they have definitely helped me feel better many times💖 Take care 💕

Yeah, it’s a vicious cycle, but that’s a good way of looking at it. There are so many people on this earth. It’s impossible to please most people, let alone everyone. Thank you so much for this ❤️ Sometimes it can feel like everyone else is happy with themselves and I’m the only one struggling. I appreciate you being so vulnerable ❤️
