Hear what it is like to have autism, be able to understand everything around you but to not be able to communicate that to others.

Aaron ... what a wonderful opportunity to share your voice, experience, struggles ... and testimony with others. Your book brought tears to my eyes as you spoke of your struggles to be understood ... but your testimony and your love of the Savior shines through. I bought a copy for each of my children! Thank you for sharing your 'life' with autism with the world. John Irving

Hey Aaron! So fun to see you on KZfaq talking about your passion. You have grown up so much. Reading your Facebook page and watching your videos I have a couple of questions. I think that all educators should listen to you when it comes to teaching kids with Autism. You have so many great things and topics to share. I also think that you(students) should be exposed to all content and not be limited to what you are taught just because you are not showing "mastery" per IEP goals/objectives. What would you tell parents or admin that need to be shown mastery of IEP goals/objectives in order to move on to the next goal/objective? Everything is data driven. I know that it is hard to be consistent day to day to prove mastery, so what should educators say to parents/admin in order to be able to have the time to move forward in the curriculum? Parents/admin need "proof" that kids are learning, so what should that "proof" be? Thanks for sharing, love following your journey.

Hi Mr. E, it is so great to hear from you. I understand your point about showing mastery in various tasks. I know that school administrators and some parents feel like they need those data points to measure success. My point is that maybe we need to redefine success in kids with non-verbal autism. Why is it so important that I can count coins that I have to spend ten years working on it? Real life for me is more about focusing on my strengths, not my weaknesses. That will be a good topic for a future video. You were my favorite teacher by the way. I miss you. Aaron

@@insideautismwithaaronjepso4992 Great point about there maybe should a redefined success measure for non-verbal kids. I also agree that you have to focus on strengths and the functionality behind the goals. Jesse wanted me to say hi to you and she misses you. We talked about all the great times we had together with you. You brought us many happy memories. It is so awesome watching you on these videos and you letting us into your world. Many if not all educators need to watch what you have to share!!! You were definitely one of my favorite students and loved watching you grow up throughout the years. You will always have a special place in my heart. You are amazing!
