I've been seeing people on TikTok use self-tanner to create semi-permanent contour lines that make them look gorgeous 24/7 without makeup! So naturally, I had to try it for myself. I will admit it - I probably should have done more research before jumping on this semi-permanent makeup trend... but since we're still practicing social isolation, I figured no one would be seeing me if it ended badly.
I think making mistakes while trying this for the first time gives you some great tips on what to do (and what not to do) when trying this out on yourself. I will definitely be perfecting this technique and hopefully one day I'll never have to wear makeup again lol.
Tantouring is a contouring technique that involves using self-tanner to semi-permanently bring dimension to the face. The ideal result is a very natural-looking sculpt that mimics the effects of bronzer or contouring powder.

Hey there! I'm a spray tan artist and I recommend using Norvell Self Tanner mousse next time! It's more natural looking and won't be off in color. Also, self tanning the entire face first, then applying a darker tan at the cheek bone, will give you a overall bronze look too! :)

Yes, self tanner does expire. Mine had a green tint to avoid looking orange, and when it expired it just stained green lol

Okay but how do I keep it onto my face without it washing off because obviously I cleanse my face twice a day but it keeps rinsing off

Skaistes'Life try a better self tanner. Also, don't exfoliating or scrub too hard the areas where you applied the self tanner when you're washing

I’m scard to do this because I usually just tan my whole face but I find that it looks a little unnatural and kinda weird and when I see people doing this it looks super natural. I’m just worried about it because I’m super pale and have a super dark tan

So I was thinking of doing the same. But then I saw a tik tok where this girl took sunscreen and put a heavy spf on where she highlights, and a low spf where she contours, and she just sunbathed. I’m actually doing that right now as I type. If it doesn’t work, I’m trying the self tanner!

mine i use is more of a tanning gel so i was able to blend mine out, i slept with it but also used one closer to my skin, idk why i replied with this but there ig lol

Amalia Rincon I heard Huda Beauty came out with a tantouring product specifically made for this (instead of trying to use self tanner for something that it’s not meant for 😅) They probably have a wide range of colors for all skin tones!
