The hand at 8:07 is a great demonstration of how playing against the book is just as likely to help other players as it is to hurt them, but no one ever notices when it helps: If he doesn't hit that 16 (against the book, obviously), the left most player gets the 2 when he doubles, and then the dealer gets the 9 for an 18 (instead of the 17 he ended up getting), causing the players with Q8 and A7 to push instead of winning, the Casino king to lose instead of winning and the player on the far left to lose his double instead of winning.

This strategy makes zero mathematical sense. And giving up on doubling and splitting completely takes away what is probably the largest advantage you can have short of someone counting high-low.
