Because of how crown works (and extra turns in general), it only gives you an extra turn if you have used your turn already. Since using a pawn soul doesn't take a turn to do, it doesn't give any extra turns

unless your fire arc is super high, as long as your firepower is the same number or higher than the hp of the target you're shooting, you'll always be able to kill it, unless of course there's another piece attacking you that isn't going to be killed by the shot, in which case just move away also, black mist is NOT as good as you think it is, it doesn't quite apply when you have a crap ton of range already anyways, but that range penalty can be absolutely DEVASTATING, if it goes down to one you're going to need to be right next to a piece to deal damage that matters, it's especially not worth adding an entire EXTRA QUEEN, extra queens can very easily kill you when in combination with a rook or especially another queen, even if the queen moves are limited to 3 squares, that's still like a third of the board that a single queen can cover

also cannon fodder is actually pretty bad, yes it's +2 firepower but only for one turn and it's not really worth it as it doesn't work with sacred crown (one of the best cards in the game), it's better to use your soul slots for the cards that give you large move range as that will allow you to get out of extremely dangerous situations thus meaning you don't rely on black mist as much which thus means that you'll deal more damage

also also, lets say black mist DIDN'T have the range penalty, it's still pretty bad, in many cases, it might save you from death for a moment but then bring you to a spot where you're guaranteed to die in the next move

Black. Mist. Reduces. Range. That's why you deal no damage sometimes , you had 1-3 range , meaning that you deal less damage to things that are like z not DIRECTLY next to you.

You do the same mistake over and over again you fill the map and then rush to the king maybe just kill everyone and then go after the king You seriously need to unlock more weapons

hear me out maybe trying to brute force with multiple black mists every run isn't the way to go
