I was a officer a long time ago and we had an older lady who lived alone her husband died yrs earlier and she would call in the middle of the night saying people were on her roof, in her house or yard and ghost in the house. I would go flash the light and tell her they are gone and she would go to sleep. I felt sorry for her and would try to set her mind at ease. Other officers wouldn’t spend the time but I would cause I knew her mind was going and in her mind it was real.

I think it’s so heartbreaking when people classify elderly people as crazy when they lose their spouses. Try living with your spouse for 45-60 years, (or longer), and then being COMPLETELY alone after their death. Especially if your ungrateful children never visit.

I am "elderly" in the minds of many, I believe I am still young. I am only 63, & I'm very able to care for myself. I am commenting because I am a very Blessed & lucky woman. My son asked me to come live with him, I asked him if he was sure that was what he wanted & he said yes it was, so here I am. I sold my home, & moved to his. I share in paying bills, groceries & such. This enables us to both have savings for a rainy day. We get along with each other well, he is my best friend, & he spoils me rotten. I spoil him, too. My grandma was home in bed surrounded by family and dying in agony of cancer…3 seconds before she died she all of a sudden sat straight up in bed looking up at the ceiling with the most ecstatic and thrilled look, her face lit up in a huge excited smile and shouted “well hello there”! The day of my precious Mother’s life, while in a coma, around3 in the afternoon, had the biggest, most beautiful smile come across her sweet face. Around 7pm we were told she wouldn’t make it through the night. At 11:00, she was pronounced dead. I will always believe her spirit left her body as she entered heaven to meet Jesus and her family and friends that had gone on before, bringing that beautiful smile.

Others I worked with said shes just crazy. I believed her as I used to do the "death watch". Some died peacefully but some suffered in agony surrounded by dark shadows at the edge of the bed...when they died.. The look of panic, fear and horror on their faces was undeniable.

Amen I am not Catholic but there is a beautiful Catholic prayer that I memorized and in times of a dying patient panicking I mentally say a prayer. Do thou oh Prince of the Heavenly Host thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls."

The “thousand yard stare” comes from PTSD and it’s not relegated to just military people. And no, we all don’t “get that sometimes”. It comes from being involved with violence whether it’s war, abuse or crime. Certain people get desensitized and it actually changes the way the brain processes information. You might look like you have “the thousand yard stare” if you are very tired but it isn’t.

My mom got dementia so fast that we thought that she was making up stories because she wanted home from the therapy facility she was in. We wanted her home too but she wouldn't be able to go back to her home & live independently & she needed to complete her physical therapy while we were putting things in place for her to finish her years shared between my sister and I. These stories started up & it was awful to see my mom so scared of people she saw that we didn't. My fiance was the one who said that it didn't matter that they weren't real, it was real to her & regardless of nursing staff or who was there we would throw out invisible people, monsters or animals. It comforted her a lot & she felt protected & defended. The officer who treats people with sincerity & respect should be paid by their level of caring because that is everything! P.S. we ended up bring my mom home to her own house where we took turns being with her & she had hospice care. She was so happy to be in her own home that she very briefly came out of her dementia asked me if that was where the palm tree used to be & cried telling me she was happy to be home. She only lived 3 more weeks she drifted in & out of reality but we were together and she was safe & loved. That's what matters in life. We need to do better with our loved ones when they need us or just anyone in need. We found out she had something I had never heard of called vascular dementia. It is known to come on fast. Take care everyone💖

I'm here the first time and I subscribed and I'm almost embarrassed to write down my story here because I think it is very hard to believe but this is what happened. Back then I was a young Emergency room nurse in a rather small hospital in Switzerland. I was on night shift when we got the phone call from the ambulance that they are on their way with an elderly lady who took a fall in her home and she is in pain and lightheaded. We were 2 nurses and 1 ED doctor for 6 Emergency rooms. My colleague and the doctor were taking their coffee break so I was there to take over the patient when the ambulance arrived. They pushed her into an empty room and there were no other patients to this time. The EMT's gave me rapport at the ED desk while the lady was in one of this empty ED rooms laying on the bed waiting for me to go back to her. It was around 3am when I stepped back into the room to her and I was a bit taken a back because there was an equal old man standing beside her. I could have sworn that she was brought in alone, at least the EMT did not tell me that she was accompanied by someone. The minute I entered the room one of the EMT guys called me back to the desk, so I told the old lady I would be back in a second. I didn't want the ambulance to wait so I went back to the desk because I thought that they must have forgotten something I would have to know. They then told me that the lady was very distraught but she was mentioning to call her son but she wasn't able to provide his number. I wasn't too concerned since she wasn't alone and I might could find out what his number would be. I told the EMT's to go ahead I would take care of it. So they left and I made my way back to the old lady. To my surprise she was alone in the room, no old man that I could see! I asked her where the gentleman was and she told me that her husband just stepped out for a bit and he would be back soon. While I was preparing to get some blood from her I asked her if she would want me to call her son? She told me that I should call him urgently because without her husband she would feel so lost and she handed me a note with the phone number. I was a bit worried that she seemed to be more confused then I first thought, I mean her husband would be surely back soon if he only stepped out for the restrooms or something like that. The lady by now is very distressed and crying asking for her son, I told her that I will call him right away when I step out with her lab work. As I go back to my desk after sending off the blood samples my colleagues are coming back from their break. I asked the other nurse to call the son for me while I was giving rapport to the doctor about the lady. After the phone call she told me that the son will be here shortly and he asked that we should let her know that he will bring Daddys picture with him. I didn't know what that should mean but I did as we were told. The old lady was genuinely upset that her husband seemed not to be back by then, which honestly surprised me as well. Then her son arrived and before entering the room to his Mom he asked us how bad she would be distraught and asking for his Dad? I told him that she was quite stressed out about him not being back by now. The son then looked at me a bit weird but did not really say anything besides that now she could calm down because he had the picture with him. I asked him want he meant and he explained that since his Dad passed away 6 years ago his Mom couldn't accept it and always waited for him to come back and the experience showed that a picture of his Dad calms her down. While he is telling me this he takes this framed picture of of a bag and I take a look at it and almost fainted. The man on the picture was the man I saw with her when she first arrived in the ED!!! HE never came back or no one elderly to that fact came back. I kept just quiet, I was shocked out of my mind. Weeks later I saw one of the EMT guys and asked him if he could maybe remember that night with the old lady and if she was coming in alone or with someone? He told me that he could remember well because she so badly wanted her husband and she didn't say though where he was but then she did also ask for her son and couldn't provide his number either. They assured me that she was brought in by her self! To this day I have no clue what was going on.

I believe you recive what give. I was a community carer in Ireland, I use to sit a lady, her daughter used to leave us in the house no heart. bad food that you not give to a pig, they used to have a big feast in the dining room and leave her in the bedroom with bread and tea. She sold all her mum's beautiful and expensive clothes and dresses her from charity shop, i used to get so angry, time passed i discovered that lady used to do tha same for her elderly parents and her very sick husband. believe me her granddaughter will be the same with her mum, for them is normal, and that is what they see. In the same time i meet another one she was so well looked by the family till the day she died. That is why i give love and respect my children, i don't want they move me into they home but i want they to do the right thing for me. Or i do it my self, when i got old before loose my mind i will look for a retirement home. And seet my self in.

To be afraid of someone that kills both the flesh and the soul is exactly what his most powerful weapon is. It feeds him, and you're supplying his power. Leave not a moment for fear to fester. Know God's love, talk to him quietly, ask for guidance ..( never ask for guidance then sit comfortably back expecting God to solve it. HE is not a jukebox in a bar my friend.) The spookiest story I remember reading about by police officers was right after Flight 93 crashed in nearby Somerset, County, Pennsylvania! The area had to be secured and that night , a police officer was in a trailer . He heard a knock on the door. He opened he door to see a flight attendant, very dazed . What happened ? the confused woman asked. The police officer told her about the crash. No survivors he said. The woman then turned and walked by into the night! Probably a very true story. Considering how fast and hard that jet hit the ground. Some spirits may not have realized that they were dead!

I heard a story on Channeling Erik here on YT about John Denver. I was listening to fall asleep like I do here. The medium “shared” that when John realized he was going to crash in his airplane, he turned to see his father sitting near him, who had preceded him in death. He apparently left his body before the crash. I’m not going into too much detail in case you like to listen to stories like that. I have always taken comfort in the story true or not we shall never know, but I like to think his dad got him out of there before a painful crash.

United Airlines Flight 93, hijacked by 4 Al Qaeda Terrorists and crashed in Somerset County, Shanksville, PA on September 11, 2001 after a retaliated struggle that had begun when passengers and Flight Attendants attempted to retake the plane from the Hijacker Ziad Jarrah. The plane hit so fast and so hard, I'm sure if you were to dig far enough. You'd actually see the fuselage. But, the common belief is that it hit the ground and blew into tiny little pieces, both seem logical. Either way, no survivors emerged from the aircraft and it's debris. There is plenty of ghost stories Officers have heard, especially on events like 9/11. The one that still shakes me isn't Law Enforcement related but, a Gettysburg ghost story. A group of Civil War Reenactors were relaxing and getting ready for battle the next day and an Officer in Union Army attire ran up to them and gave them words of encouragement, "Good job, were gonna give the rebs hell," and they didn't really give him a second thought and thought he was a real Reenactor. The "Reenactor" gave the gentlemen reenacting real live cartridges. Upon looking back up, they couldn't find him. They didn't even hear him leave.

I live 35 miles outside southeast Houston. This rural area is scattered about and also has my one and only severely mentally handicapped sibling who lives alone. She's refused and dismissed many health care providers. Her trailer is at the end of along dirt road. I have hired and taken her to multiple psychiatrist, therapist, inpatient and outpatient. At 70 years old eventually I let go and she's a ward of the state. She's off and on with her meds. She's described people walking out of her closet and disappeared through the walls. Our Mother was in and out of mental institutions all our lives until she died at 39 by her own hand. Now my sister calls me talking about some black wild hogs running around the property and they won't let her out. I've sent game wardens and county sheriff's when she's delusional. I'm listening to this story as I type. As horror is described and the story stretched I wanted to remind people some stories are ongoing and never really end.

Enjoyed this so much. Years ago, my husband said he actually saw the devil when he was 17. Now my husband is extremely honest…to a fault. As a teen, he had done the usual things such as drink and smoke marijuana, but he was no junkie. Anyway, as he lay in bed one night, he felt an abnormal chill in his room. He sat up in bed and said a reddish and black fog formed at his door, and eventually, he was able to see the shape of a man with the typical goat’s head and horns. The thing stared at him for a bit before it said, “You’re mine now.” He jumped out of bed and ran toward the mist, but it dissipated before he reached it. He knew that was real AND a warning that he should change his life. He changed his life alright…for the better.

Both of these stories are very, very good and very creepy. The stories seem reminiscing of the kind of urban myths that go around in small towns and cities. The stories are very believable, well written and very well told, and actually sound like the things that a small town cop might actually run into. the first one, about the old lady, was so creepy and terrifying. You have to wonder what was wrong with her kids----where they just assholes who didn't care, or had reasons to hate their parents, or did they know something that kept them away? This story is all the more creepy for the ending, the unexplainable aftermath that the cops witnessed. The second story, about the kidnapped girl, is a different take on the lost hitchhiker ghost. The ghost finally managed to find someone---the cops---to help her get home. What is incredibly sad----and an indictment of our society-----is that many old people are left alone, abandoned by their kids and relatives (if any). Many times, it really is police officers who end up giving these old people the care and attention that they can't get from others. Frankly, if I was a cop at that scene, I would have made sure to question the old lady's children. See if they were anxious to get their inheritance. While an old house might not be worth anything, the land on it can be worth a fortune. Years ago, an old man in my neighborhood died. His house was run down and not worth anything-----but we were all astonished to learn that the land the house sat on was worth almost half a million dollars to a construction company. More than enough to do away with an isolated old person. These stories were really excellent, well told. I am actually hoping this might be the start of a series. I liked that it was told by the protagonist of a police officer-----in so many creepy stories, the narrator ends up killed or disappeared, but I like this style better. The cops go on with their lives, but are left to wonder. And the older cop made the comment that odd things sometimes happened in this town. It makes you wonder what else has happened---and what might still happen. You can easily believe stories of strange events being told by the cops, veteran to rookie, down through generations.

Wait wait wait.. if you were the cop in the first story, you woulda suspected her kids? Dont get me wrong, I agree with your points, as they relate to the real world. But in this fictional story.. how tf could the kids have done it? What, did they sneak into her closet, undetected, for weeks? And pretend to be a demon? And invite all their friends over to hide in all the closets? And perfectly imitate her dead husbands voice? And survive a shotgun blast? And then somehow know the hotel the cops took her to? Sneak in undetected? Stage the demonic crime scene, then make the body disappear? It's a spooky demon story. Not really meant to be a whodunit. Again, in real world terms, I agree with you. But "he shoulda questioned her kids" is cracking me up. Should of done line up, see if any of them have red eyes and horns. Maybe a forked tongue.

It's been decades since my aunt passed away and it still haunts me to this day. She was a sweet gentle lady and in her last days she was practically bedridden. About a couple of month before she finally passed. she said to me out of the blue that I didn't have to watch over her when she slept. I told her I had not been doing so and she must had dreamt it. But then as time went on she insisted that someone was in her room. I got very concerned because she had never shown any signs of dementia, if anything although her body was failing, her mind was still sharp and also around that time there were some break-ins in the neighborhood. I started to stay up at nights basically patrolling the house checking everything, but found nothing. Her health worsen to the point that I had to put her in a hospice; it was the hardest decision I had ever had to make. In the end, I sat with her in her final moment as she slowly pass from this life. She was more of a mother to me than my mother and to see her go was and still is a very hard thing. People talk about closure, but the truth is there is no such thing. Closure is a convenient idea for people who feel awkward around those who suffered a loss; they want to believe the person grieving will get closure and they can go back to behaving as normal around the bereaved. The reality is when you lose a loved one that pain never goes away - closure does not exists

Years ago I worked Patrol for my local County Sheriff, we had an elderly lady, that would call us just to have someone to talk to, one day my partner and I responded to her house on a report of Aliens in the area, when we got there, she told us that aliens were shooting rays at her, from their ship in order to control her mind, without missing a beat, my partner asked her if she had tried putting tin foil on the ceiling, to block the rays, she replied that she hadn't thought of that, but if he thought it would work, it might be worth trying. A few weeks later my Sergeant, and I were called to her neighbors house, on an unrelated matter, and because we were there, we decided to check on the lady, as a courtesy, when she let us in I looked up, and discovered, the ceiling covered by neatly stapled tin foil! I asked her if she had any more problems, with the aliens, and their rays, ( at this point I was getting some strange looks, from my Sergeant) The lady replied " not since I put the foil up, it's doing a really good job" Sarge looked up and saw the foil and got a puzzled expression, on his face, after a few more pleasantries we left, the Sarge waited until we were about a block away, and asked me what the deal was, with aliens, and the foil, when I told him, what my partner, had said the previous week, and Sarge just lost it!

Just like "One Step Beyond", an TV show. They showcased a story about a ship fishing a mariner out of the sea. He claimed he was in a sunken submarine. He guided the crew to the site of the sinking. Once they arrived, he disappeared. When they raised the sub, the crew was all dead. The same mariner was found dead. He had been the navigator. Kudos to your story telling abilities. Changing the pitch of your voice to indicate each character. There's another Creepy Story site but the narrator speaks in a monotone so you can't differential characters or genders. It difficult to follow along. Another "One Step Beyond" is a man dying of thirst in his home. Turns out he had an identical twin who was trapped in a mine.

Ole Mrs. Gerrady deserved much more loving, caring children. She didn't deserve the cruel children that she had to raise. They had no love in them at all. I think this is a case for the courts... The children have been notified about her condition, they haven't provided help in any way. Why can't they call a nurse and have their mother's own health insurance/SSI pay for a Hospice Nurse that comes to check up on her condition at least regularly, someone to observe her mental state, eating habits, cleanliness all around, and to provide the poor mother with what she needs at all times. The nurse or even assistant nurse or SOMEONE could've moved in with her if she refused to go to a Nursing Home or a Psychiatric Care Facility like most very able-minded and able-bodied elderly people who own their own property and who are just lonely after the death of a spouse. Her children should be charged with Elderly Abuse, Neglect, written out of her Will, etcetera... I just paused to say this after they took her to a motel to get a 'good nights rest' and told the Chief or Sheriff who said he would make sure she got the care she needed. It just made me think of how very true this rings for all kinds of real-life situations. It is shameful, abusive, horrid behavior by both the son and daughter in this story. But, this happens way too often in real life too. It's sad. Take good care of your mothers and fathers. They raised you well, didn't they? And if not, at least provide them with someone to take care of them at a distance. Okay, now I am un-pausing the story now... It's a really good one so far and I can't wait to hear the rest. I'll likely come back and say more/edit this... Thank you Stephen, for doing such a professional, talented, amazing voice and for always knowing how to pick the best stories to read to us! We are a spoiled bunch... It's only natural for a channel as good as this, with fans as good as you have, and especially considering the talented and amazingly kind channel owner!!!!!!! All of Our Love and Best to ALL of You,| Luke and Kelli Edit: Oh, wow... Two stories about the same police officers and station. This would make a very cool, interesting series... I could really see that working out very well actually... The town just keeps getting stranger and stranger...

The scratching in closet is common djinn behaviour to "befriend" human, using a voice we recognise and if we were to do as it told us it is as we accept it's friendship. Absolutely ignore the disturbances and it will stop trying to befriend us and lead to our destruction.

I don’t know if these are true stories or not but I’m amazed that so many police officers doubt the paranormal and unexplainable. They certainly know good and evil exists. This is probably why I didn’t become a cop, I wanted to for awhile. I can handle a lot of things but these are just too much. I can say this. I found Gladys, Willard and Shirley Ann McDougal in the 1940 census in Seattle, Washington and she was two at that time- probably going on three. I haven’t checked the 1960 census to see if she’s in there yet. Too darn spooky, poor girl.

The 2nd story here is a spirit that has unfinished business. She wanted her parents to know that bad event had happened to her. But then the fire killed them. They already met in the Center in Heaven. Why waited 60 plus years to let the authority knows what had happened to her? Normally such a case would happened soon. She must be a so lost spirit. Everyone has an Angel at least to help guides the soul to their next journey. I knew somethings about the dead. Case like that young woman made me question why? My Brother had his reasons. Loves & concerns made him lingered around the livings. He wanted to be born into the family that he had loved. After he knew that it was not possible he decided to moved on. The young woman had her reason. Maybe she died in abnormal circumstance caused her to stayed that long. She had been waiting to be found. She even show up looking like the day she died. She helped the police solved her case. Seems so strange because I am not familiar with her character & life. My brother stayed for decades before he moved on. Once he left nothing strange related to him caring for me has ever happened. This poor young woman had to waits so long before she can moved on. The spirits stayed because they had reasons to stay. Instead of being helped to move on, their loves for their loves one caused them to be Earth bound.

I worked in a nursing home more than 30 years ago. Folks who slept all day long rocked and rolled all night long. We were told to "orient patients to reality" at all times. So when the elderly lady called for her daughter, she was told again and again that her daughter had passed away, which broke her heart over and over. The old attorney who thought chickens had filled his room was told there were in reality no chickens even though he could see them all around him! I was 19 and working 3rd shift while sleeping without air conditioning in one of the worst heat waves the state had seen to that point. I finally began telling the elderly lady her daughter was just trying to get some sleep or had gone overnight to visit she went happily back to sleep. I shooed the chickens out of the attorney's room and promised to make sure their coop was locked properly and he was happy and asleep. My floor was calmer and happier. Whatever upset did occur was short lived and my people were content. Sometimes it's simply cruel to force a woman with memory problems to relive her daughter's death over and over again. Simple kindness, folks. That could be one of our loved ones - or us. Treat folks like they're your own family and you'll have fewer regrets at the end of your life.
