Here's my Underdark ice cream recipe for anyone who actually wants it (makes about 1 litre):
CUSTARD BASE
250g full cream milk
250g cream
100g caster sugar
4 large egg yolks
Pinch of salt
CHOCOLATE BASE
150g cream
30g unsweetened dutch processed cocoa powder
Roughly chopped dark chocolate melts
1tsp vanilla extract
MIX INS
Crushed double choc oreos (or similar)
Roughly chopped dark chocolate melts
1tsp olive oil
Look, I was gonna type out the rest but all the steps are in the video and I don't want to :(
Edited by Jack MacColl: www.jackmaccoll.com/
00:00 - Intro
01:44 - Chocolate Base
06:23 - Custard Base
16:16 - Churn and Mix-Ins
24:30 - Final Result

"I'm using volume measurements. *Like an American.*" This is already the most aggressive ice cream tutorial I've ever watched, but I do appreciate that "cup and a half and a bit" are vague and evocative measurements. Wow, ooo ahh. What incredible ice cream!
@sylvansmithy5262
@sylvansmithy5262 5 ай бұрын
@aqacefan dry and liquid measures are the same volume, the only difference is liquid measuring cups are designed to minimize spills. You can test this by filling a dry measuring cup with water and pouring it into a liquid measure.

@@sylvansmithy5262 Comment retracted, thanks. In retrospect, Dael was playing fast and loose with measurements anyway, so pouring scant to avoid spills probably wasn't an issue in the end.

The occurence of a double yolker is 1 in 1000 eggs. The average per capita egg consumption in 1 year (US) is around 280. So once every leap year a double yolker should find its way into a flat of eggs.

One of my favorite memories of my dad is when he used to take me to swimming lessons in the dead of winter, and afterward we would go to a frozen custard place and eat frozen custard together as we shivered in his very old pickup truck. So thanks for reminding me of those good times. Making frozen custard is a pretty great secret hobby to have. If you had made ice cream instead, I would almost be disappointed.

If you crunch your eggshells into powder they make good additions to your flower beds or compost heap. Keeps the snails off, helps de-acidify acidic soils, and it's great for tomatoes because there's a condition they get if there's not enough calcium in the soil, called black end rot.
