I own two Laserpecker 2 and a 1 pro variant, each have their abilities and definitely some limitations (software and 100mm workspace), but the key advantage they both share is portability. The LP1 can be powered by any 5v 2amp brick or power bank, however few reviews mention that the LP 2 operates on a 12v 5amp adapter with a barrel plug, or that the LP 2's expensive proprietary lithium bank, which ultimately means the LP2 doesn't need it, as the LP2 can be powered by any 12v 5amp source, like a car battery. My advice when engraving free-hand with the heavier LP2 is, don't over extend your arm, hold the engraver as close to the body as possible to reduce hand/arm fatigue. I also added thin rubber feet to the corners of the shroud to reduce accidental slips while free-hand engraving. In conclusion, the Laserpecker 1 and 2 are great entry-point enthusiasts wet dream, but for production runs and higher volumes, the LP 1 and 2 engravers lack the functionality limited by their proprietary software. Don't get me started on getting Laserpecker equipment serviced, you do not get a 12 month hardware warranty with them and to make matters worse, it's impossible to visually tell Laserpecker's apart, how can one be reassured they'll even get their device back from China? This is my opinion, I could be wrong. 😉

@@VoeltnerWoodworking Unfortunately it's the same story for a lot of Chinese manufactured products like laser engravers, the product support infrastructure just isn't there. Once they've sold you something they wash their hands of any/all responsibility to service under any kind of warranty. Startup companies like Laserpecker are inherently lazy in that regard, just wanting to bang out their gadgets as quickly as they can. Just pray nothing ever goes wrong with your Laserpecker. 👍

Thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed the Demo. I want to get one to take to craft shows. But would need to purchase the enclosure.

IDK if it is possible with this machine, but a technique I used with other machines when I needed to engrave larger pieces was to embed fiducial markers on the drawing on the first pass, then cover then on the second pass. Fiducial markers are used to tell if the new position is aligned when comparing to the old position. It is very common technique in PCB manufacturing, as the machine uses these markings to reference to the piece, instead of homing to absolute positions. Two simple crosses that you align on the second pass should be enough to increase the size of the engraving sideways.

Yeah, you can definitely use this technique because of it's open nature (not limited by machine footprint). I didn't test it for this video because most people aren't going to have the knowledge of how to do that process, but using the preview mode and being able to set specific dimensions should make this process fairly easy compared to a gantry system. Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps the topic of a future video?

My advice is buy pre-owned, new Laserpecker's are extremely overpriced by comparison. They are cool, can't deny that, I own three, but one can literally buy three high quality flat bed engravers (with accessories) like essential filtration for the same price as one new Laserpecker 2 engraver.
