My band was THE last band you produced as far as I know, because you said mid-production you were going to stop producing after this and put more time into your KZfaq channel, I'll say this... HELL. YES. I'm firing a text now. Let's GO! Much love, Rick. Much love, GL. Thank you both so much for keeping in touch. Edited to add: Every single time I watch your in studio interviews, I get a bit homesick after basically living in there over a period of years.

Such great news Rick. Kind of taking a page out of your own book. ITS NEVER TOO LATE ! Right? Being a woman ( the only woman that owns her own record shop in Michigan) that will be 60 in December I have found in my 15 years in business these are the greatest days of my shop career. Because of you I started playing my guitar again and found I missed it so much. Long story short is these will be some of your best years and times of producing. Keep the content coming you have also inspired me to start a KZfaq channel of my own all about vinyl. All the best Rick

I think it would be a great series if you were willing to show the creation of an entire song, from how you start (lyrics first? Riff first? Musical key first?) to hammering out the initial song to bringing in the entire sound and then the final recording session. I realize that would be VERY intimate. As someone who has written his own music for a few decades, I do not like sharing my songs till I think they are ready, but you are so great at helping everyone learn more about the music business. This would be cool to watch, even over several different videos.

my mom passed in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, I never really shared my music, my recordings with her, but any time I was playing my guitar and she was around she would just sit and listen for however long she could... I always wanted to make an album for her, just show her what I love to do finally...I never was able to do that. After she passed I have recorded just about a song a month, all with her memory in mind.. and I finally started sharing them with my dad and he became even more supportive of me spending my time this way (I am 40 at this point but it really opened up our relationship) .... Anyways.... I am not sure why I shared this..maybe it was just to say... share the thing you love with the people you love while you can. I will never get to hear my mom comment on my music at this point and it hurts.

Fantastic news Rick! I can’t wait to hear your own guitar music. You are an absolute master of the instrument which, combined with your insanely deep theory knowledge and ridiculously good ear, should make for some truly epic stuff. This is really great news for your followers.

I think the reasoning for returning to this, partially because of your dad, is the best reason. To do it for you. That said, I would absolutely appreciate more of your thoughts and content on recording , mixing, etc!

Isn't it amazing how little points of friction-a scratchy patch bay, a squeak in the floor-will deter us from doing even the things we love, even to the point of stopping them altogether. This is some kind of lesson in fixing the small things and the big things will take care of themselves. It's a point we can all learn from.
