@@dianecelento4974 That’s a great question. I don’t know if there are any that stick out in particular. I think it’s experience that I remember, more so than the words that were exchanged. They were content, wise, and in many cases genuinely happy. I just found it fascinating that so many people in what I would consider “tough spots” didn’t act like it. And on the other hand I know so many people with more money than they know what to do with that are full of bitterness. Not saying money is evil, that’s a fallacy. I just think it’s interesting that money sort of becomes irrelevant on the scale of happiness or contentment. Take care

The first time I heard Ramsey say 'live like noone else so later you can live and give like noone else' it was kind of emotional... Because most videos about wealth talk about just the wealth, the expensive cars, the luxury vacation, the never-having-to-work, and I was like, I don't even want the expensive cars! It was really cool to finally hear someone talk about wealth in a different way.

I don't think boredom or lack of motivation to get more is the same as a motivation to never be poor again. Fact is, this dude is almost certain to never be poor. He'll never have a house payment again, for one. Fact is, the more money you have, the less marginal utility you get from more. Give $200k to some 26 year old girl w/ a third tier toilet law school degree, and her happiness will skyrocket. Give it to Warren Buffett and he'll probably just shrug and hand it over to some charity. I know my biggest challenge right now is continued motivation, when your lifestyle is perpetually below your income. I'm in a good, but not in as good of a situation (hoping to be a millionaire by 40, but even then, a lot of net worth is tied in real estate with mortgages attached, so I can't just liquidate and then start piling all the house money I'm not paying into investments), and it's still challenging.

This past december just before christmas, we went to a restaurant and our bill was about $34, we left $80 on the table, we didn't get to see her face, but it just feels so good to know you're making someone's day or week.

those are great things to do, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't change their life trajectory. what would be great would be to give strangers money, but also teach them a little bit about basic personal finance and compound interest. a simple compound interest calculator example is what really made it click for me. an example such as 10k invested each year for 40 years at a 7% return ends up being worth $2,136,095. 10's of millions of people in the US can afford to invest 10k a year, but very few of them actually do so, because of fear or simply not knowing what they're missing out on.

Now I am not only debt free , but I am bill free and I have a new goal which may take me a 3-5 more years but that goal is simply to bring in 4000 a month in dividend income at my current investing rate. There’s so many things a person could do in this position...help repair homes for the elderly, build ramps for the disabled, buy Christmas gifts for kids that wouldn’t have a Christmas otherwise, have holiday dinners for the homeless, poor or elderly and cook and help serve it, sponsor homes for people recovering from addictions or domestic violence and help mentor those people,....I wish this was my problem. I don’t have a lot to give but I still try to little things that sometimes aren’t even about money. A few weeks ago, the line was seriously slow at a little grocery store I was in. There were three guys that looked like they had just got off work and was tired and only had a few items. I was ahead of them line but I insisted they go first. They were so appreciative and just kept thanking me...and it was such a small thing...but I really didn’t have much extra money that week and that was my small act of kindness. Sometimes I’ll give a child begging for a candy bar just five bucks...that’s a little tricky..you have to okay it with the parent..but you can often tell when that parent just doesn’t have it as opposed to they just don’t want their child to have it. But I don’t judge..I just don’t. Once a woman was paying in change for cigarettes in front of me in line and you could tell she had a super hard life, probably on drugs, but I bought those. It may have been the only kindness shown to her in a year...who knows. I try to be observant and if there’s some small thing I can do, I step up and do it. I can’t do much, because I’m not in that position, but these small things help me, and people are very appreciative of kindness.

Another idea: pick a church school that you believe in, and start sponsoring students whose families want to send their kids there, but can’t afford it. Even if all you do is pay part, or even most of the tuition, and have the parents pay what they can, then go volunteer at the school and watch those kids blossom. THAT is amazing, and someday I would love to be able to do it.

To get hands on with my giving I started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity actually building the homes instead of writing a check. That was so rewarding that now I'm an electrician, and my "retirement" still involves me working 3 days a week, more if it's a project for a friend or a big safety issue. Find your passion and work becomes play!

I’ve found that once I reach an important goal, that I can find myself in a position where I just need to set a new goal. That time right after reaching the goal produces a void, and the remedy is a new goal - for me. That said, a million dollars is not that much money, these days. He’s comfortable, but he still has some work ahead of him to be truly wealthy with a ridiculous amount of money.

We learned that in psychology too, you really need to be involved and see the effects your giving has to feel it --- and that's super healthy.

When I reached that stage, I started giving to an animal shelter. One that I visit and where I can see in person what they do to help animals. Seeing the animals rescued, treated and saved makes me so happy. Earning money is even more rewarding now that it is used directly for something like that.

This caller’s situation is very real. I am in a similar spot. I really feel like my life was more satisfying when I was making 50k a year and trying to figure out how to achieve and get the things I want. It is not as simple as just giving the money away. It is like you live most of your life with money being the limiting factor as to what you can do. Say for example you like playing golf and you want new clubs. You might search around for used ones, do some trading, maybe some side work so you can get the clubs you want, The whole process is so satisfying. You appreciate things more when you have to work and plan for them. When you can just write a check for anything it really takes the enjoyment out of it. Being comfortable and stress free is nice but it really sucks the fun out of hobbies and goals.

What could be more "satisfying" or a challenge then to invest in other people in need, someone you can ACTUALLY make a Visual change in. Your coming full circle. Either that or write a book 🤣🤣

That's like when u use the cheats in video games. It's not fun anymore. I'd do farming. Working with your hands and creating crop and caring for animals would give me satisfaction and on side of that I would start a foundation which provides scholarships.

Matt 5:33- Happy are those conscious of thier spiritual need. Contrary what was shared in this video our purpose is not just to work and die. We have a real purpose that shared with us in Gods word, and its very opposite of what most of the world defines as success.

Depends on their lifestyle. My wife and I are worth less than that but we live a debt free simple frugal lifestyle, so the amount that we do have while small to many seems like a fortune to us.

Have no debt and works, lives with-in their means. Better off then me at this point and I’m two years older. If I was debt free I could make moves that I can’t. Making those move could very easily boost their wealth. Congrats for them. That hard work paid off.

@@ozzymartinez3820 I could retire on a million easy. Even 300,000 be sufficient. 5000-6000 if I'd everything paid for is all I would need. I'm working on solar, all electric. House costs 128,000 if I finish the basement like upstairs and include attached garage on my brick house I have 3600sq ft. My property taxes $1600 for the year electric $75 a month average, $85 cable $430 for year of cell service. I have septic/well and geothermal and electric oven. Septic costs like $200 to clean every 3-5 years. Only thing I would need to add is food. Lets say $250 a month...$3000 a year my truck and house insurance $1500. I'm probably in $10000 for everything a year, now add gas for travel $4000-5000 unless I get all electric car which is free with solar. Money would add up fast, I could do investments of all sorts. Right now I'm working on upgrades because of tax credits, trying to beat inflation and aiming for long lasting products with high efficiency. Sometimes I think it is a mistake for me to help people... I say it because I've been unfriended or ignored if they request my help again and do nothing. However I didn't get involved a 2nd time helping because they didn't keep promises to repay and they didn't bother to talk to me and spent money on vacation or drinking & smoking... I'm not upset they didn't repay, I'm upset there is no explanation and they want more. Thing is I tell people that try to pay me back, I say keep it... I'm just glad to know they wanted to make it right and pay it back as promised. I end up telling them to help someone as I did for them if they can as a way to repay me. Unfortunately most people claiming to need money don't need it, they just can't stop bad habits and most I've found betray you.

Where I live I can retire comfortably at age 40 with less than a million. Cost of living is low, and I'm very content with an average house and cars. I'll just be owning my stuff instead of my stuff owning me. I'd always rather look like I have far less money than I actually have. The opposite is common in the world. Most people look like they have money but all they have is debt.

This is the most important video I’ve seen of Dave Ramsey’s. When I finished baby step 6 I fell into a horrible depression when I paid off my house. I was only 39 and I felt as if I already beat the game with too much time left. It’s really really weird. It feels just like buying a video game and beating the game in a week, yet, you can’t buy another game, and you’re just replaying a game over and over that gets boring.
