Fiskars have this shovel with metal handle (top to bottom its metal). This shovel outlasts 4-5 shovels with wooden handles. It is usually a bit more expensive than the wooden ones but it is totally worth the price. Wooden shovels just fails all the time.

It's actually insane how dry our summer was. Here in Portland we had a wildfire we could see from downtown. The fire went from 500 to 2000 acres in a couple hours because of 32c weather with extremely hot, dry, desert wind IN LATE OCT. The following week, temp suddenly dropped to 4c with nonstop rain over night and it's been that way ever since. It's like fall didn't even exist this year.

Minor feature idea (let me know if this is a good idea or not - I have zero experience with this, but find it interesting). S bend corner, but instead of staying in the gap between curves you roll over the top of the berm into the other curve. The two corners would be about tangent at the point that they meet, maybe with a very short straight (ish) section between them to lengthen the transition a bit more and make it easier to avoid accidentally jumping over the top. It's very likely that this is common already, or unrealistic to maintain, but if it does make sense I wanted to share it. Love your videos :)

Pro-Tip . . . if you plan to build or maintain trails, make sure at least one of your shovels is a "Transfer" shovel. It is *GREAT* for leveling, screeding, and most importantly, packing down. Having said that, it is not designed for digging. So, if you need to do some actual digging, then you will need, you guessed it . . . a "Digging" shovel.

Former trail builder here - shovels in general suck ass at prying, they love to break. Get an 18lb rock bar (like $30, it's literally a steel rod with a chisel point at the end) and a pick mattock. You can move damn near anything with those two.

Rider's helping clear drains and removing fallen branches, etc. Should be common place behavior to help out trail builder's. I think every rider should volunteer a few times a season understanding how trails are built and giving back makes us all better Rider's. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride

Try using a scythe instead of gas powered cutting equipment. Many you tube videos demonstrate and After a few hours of practice you can cut faster than a gas powered brush cutter. Brush blades can cut 1.5 inch saplings and dry dead blackberry canes with ease. no risk of fire, quiet, fun, no breathing fumes and bonus they have wooden handles

I grew up in Colorado. The soil there is so rocky that when I see soil like you were digging in I am totally jealous. Even where I live now my house was built on an old riverbed. I literally cannot dig with a shovel. You need a long steel bar and a pick ax to even begin to dig a hole
