I am the original author of Homesick. I like the performance of Jessie Dixon at the Hawaiian Homecoming better. The song is not about a homesick college student, but rather a song about heaven. I was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma the evening of Thanksgiving when I was a freshman in college - November of 1986. I sat down and wrote Homesick the next morning.
