There is a chance that it's something like an expired credit card was being used to pay for part of the web services and that hasn't been updated. I'll update when I get some further details as it could matter.

What do you expect? Hes a 22 yr old kid. Hes a terrible business person and he is broke. Hes just holding onto scraps he has left over after blowing his college fund on crappy chinese products from ali baba and slapping his name on them. How do i know? I met him he bought plants from me ..but stopped because hes broke. My suggestion is just avoid anything jc&p especially the c02 products as you will NOT get get a refund or warranty if it breaks. Also i think youre being too kind. Ive had a code for his sales and stopped giving it out 2 yrs ago because i tested his stuff and its all less than mediocre. The lights are basic chinese lights made and sold by another bigger brand name ..but even then the lights are trash. All 24/7 lights are . Except hygger. I like theirs but still wont use them as i like more controll and power.@BentleyPascoe

Props to you for being a responsible and honest you tube creator Bentley! Being a poor fish nerd on an extremely tight budget I only buy my hobby paraphernalia from Amazon type retailers, not even ali baba level as I don't have a credit card😅 or my local fish club auctions so everything is either used branded or off-off-off brand. But as long as my plants grow and my fish are living their best life, I'm cool with my lot. ✌️

Thank you, Bentley. Kind of a bummer. I have 2 JC&P lights and like them for the tanks they are on. That being said, if they are shady, we have so many other budget options available to us today. Shoot, some shop lights are amazing and under 20 bucks!

Also companies like hyger sold me a led bar that was not water sealed ? Little did I know u have to seal the lights yourself ? What . They replaced my light immediately !

Thank you so much for this, especially as within the next few months I'll be buying some lights for indoor ponds of fish & aquatic plants that are native to north America & often live in deep ponds, so I don't need anything too exotic nor high end just something basic that'll work.

Good on you Bentley for letting the community know what's going on. I bought two JC&P back when you first recommended them. They're both still doing well for me. As you say in the video though, there are plenty of good alternatives out there for fishkeepers on a budget.

I have several JC&P lights. When I emailed them several months ago, I also couldn't get a response. At that point I ordered one of their lights through Amazon (CA), as I didn't feel comfortable ordering if they don't respond to emails. The light arrived as expected, no problem. Amazon still has the lights listed, and says sold by JC&P, with next day delivery.

Thank you for sharing. I just subscribed and put notifications on for your channel last week. I’m looking for lights for my aquarium. I can’t seem to get the Fluval 3.0 light anywhere. It’s for a 55 gallon aquarium. Any advice is welcome.

The important thing when trying to consider lighting for your aquarium is the plants within the aquarium. As an example, let's say you're doing a lot of Java fern and anubias, since both of these are pretty low light demand plants, you don't need a super powerful light. You could get away with something simpler that isn't quite as powerful. You could also use something that is more powerful, but has a lot of controls to dial that power back so that if you ever do decide to use a more light demanding plant, you have the ability to increase light. The fluval is a great one so is aquarium co-op for features like that. Good video and reasoning! I'll stick with my Nicrew lights for a long time. Have seven, including a Marine light and they all work perfectly and have the features i want. I could care less if a company actually makes a product themselves or if they are branded, but taking my money without sending product is a huge no no in my book. Thanks for pointing out their failures to your audience. Integrity is NOT optional!

I downloaded these vids earlier, (well, I missed two that are downloading now). It'll be something to compare to other light vids later on. I use Hygger 957s because my lighting needs are pretty simple, but I treat those as if they'll go all "Wicked Witch of the West" on me if water makes an appearance. Thank you for making a vid like this, though. These kinds of vids go a long way to building and maintaining credibility on this platform. If JC&P makes a comeback, then these saved vids will be useful reference. If not, then at least I know what sort of quality to expect from similar form lights on whatever Chinese marketplace features them. These vids will still have uses, it just may not be the original uses. Good on ya for maintaining the quality control for your channel.

I still have the videos. They're just not accessible on KZfaq anymore. It might be an overzealous precaution, but if something really shady is going on I don't want to risk even one more person purchasing a light and then getting screwed out of it.

@@BentleyPascoe There's a certain subset of KZfaq for whom any disclaimer you put on a video is treated a bit like the package their M&Ms came in. All they care about is that the package actually contains M&Ms and is unopened. You can disclaim all you want, they'll just breeze through it, have a bad experience, and downvote you. There are other groups, however. For instance, if a diabetic person is reading that M&M package, they might be making a life or death decision there. That information is super important but only in specific instances. I think you've struck the right balance here, as there probably isn't someone who needs this information on that level. Leaving it up would just be inviting the KZfaq algorithm to dump future unhappy people in your lap. I think you chose wisely.

I ordered a light from JC&P in the beginning of November and it arrived three weeks later. I never tried to contact customer service, so I can’t say anything to that, but this not fulfilling orders thing must be very recent.

If you don't care about simulating sunrise and sunset and want to go low budget, try clamp on desk lamps with 5000K to 6000K LED flood lights and a timer. They work fine for me.

here's how this game works. there is 1 or 2 manufacturing companies in china making LED lights, when established brands don't meet the capacity of that plant to make product, they start selling it themselves. they create a dozen fake brands with stupid names and they sell direct to consumers or sell on amazon until everyone realizes they are selling junk, then they shut the brand name down, and make a new brand name. god forbid you ever need customer service, replacement parts, or are in need of legal remedy, you'll never see a dime, and never get any help.

Wow, someone being decent when it comes to cheap garbage... Not as common as you'd like to hear anymore, but even more nice to hear as a result. Of course this is one of the many indicators that we need to get away from imported crap, but that's another discussion. The long and short of it is that if you have the money to afford stuff made in your country of origin, you should do it, and not cheap out. Beyond that, always pay attention to reviews and customer service.

While I appreciate the "heads up", I wonder how you can be so sure the company is not experiencing some shakeup, hiccup in management or processes and is working to overcome them? A loss of email communication could have been foisted on them by some hacker. I did not hear enough facts to know that they are "shady"...unless you can't share them with us. Regardless, thank you for the warning. Hopefully the ship will right itself.

The likelihood of a hacker making the email account cease functioning is low. This being said, I'm in the process of investigating deeper, I would hope it's a lapse in paying for services, like an expired CC, but if not, it's very questionable. Their website chat has been non-responsive. It's a pattern that looks poor.

I did listen... but the Hawaiians distracted me the whole time. My tank crashed last night and I lost a good 150. Luckily I have 3 tanks of them. Assuming it was a water change. Devastating. Go Hygger.

This is a bit of a problem I see easily on your end not to promote a non-attainable product. There was an influencer focused merchandise company a few years ago that started out as a legitimate business only for the owner to start burning the money from the orders and many MANY orders went unfulfilled. Not saying this is what happened but you never know.
