In this video I go do a couple of great hikes in Utah's Capitol Reef National Park, drive one of the best roads in the country, and find a great campsite surrounded by tons of interesting little, er, artifacts.

Nice video. My mom lives in AZ, 6 hour drive, I wish I would have explored more being close to those areas. It is illegal to collect mookie marbles in national parks now. Maybe too many people took them to sell. But I have some I bought years ago They are iron oxide, the center is sandstone and its surrounded by hematite. Advil 600 ml us good for aches and pains also keeps the swelling down. Happy trailing !

I've been to the area where you camped. I heard that if you throw a moqui marble in a fire it explodes. We threw one in our campfire and in a few minutes it exploded loudly and shot shrapnel everywhere. We were hiding behind a tree just to be safe. Glad we did.

Thanks Carol! Utah is a gorgeous state. There are beautiful places in every state, but I think that Utah has the highest concentration or density of beautiful places of any state.

Yeah, it seemed best not too. Who knows, there may be even better campsites out there than this one as far as the moqui marbles go. Only way to know for sure is for people to get out there and explore for themselves. Thanks Barb.

Tristan, your campsite looks relatively close to the Cosmic Ashtray. Red Breaks to the Cosmic Ashtray is a great day hike. It took us 2 tries to get there because one person in our group couldn't fit through the last slot at the end of Red Breaks and had to backtrack the entire way... We found a rattlesnake down in the Cosmic Ashtray. Probably fell in. Hopefully enough small critters followed suit. There is a great Moqui Marble field down from the Cosmic Ashtray also. The contrast of the earth colors near the second arch was pretty amazing as were the marbles. Utah seems like such a cool state; it's on my short list of places to visit some day. As always, great video and thanks for bringing us along. :-)

Nah. It's not complicated. Just buy the pass and show it to whatever national public land unit you're trying to enter. I get a pass every year. They're absolutely worth it.

I drive from Torrey to Escalante in early April. Very stunning scenery for miles. I liked the Henry mountains and the small ribbon of road with canyons in both sides.

Easy to find most spots you don't mention or disclose, like the moqui marbles site since it is called Moqui Marbles Hill on Google Maps and other KZfaq videos exist of its location. Anyway, great informative videos, coming in handy for our trip planning.

Just a quick comment, was watching another you tuber fight those high winds and someone suggested to her to turn the vehicle from broadside so that the nose of vehicle is facing into the wind. Don't know if it would matter with such a small vehicle but it might help, it helped her that next night. Just a tip I heard.

I'm sure that wouldn't hurt, but yeah, I don't know if it would make much of a difference with the RAV4. And I think I'd be more concerned about orienting my car so that it's on a level spot than it being in line with the wind, but it's a good thing to keep in mind. Thanks :)

I'm in Wisconsin and after our last trip out west I lamented.... not one bison, not one geyser, not one mountain,..... and out there they are just all over the place.... why can't we just have one??? Those round “marbles” can also be seen in White Pocket in AZ. They’re light and the wind blows them along which helps round them out.

Uh, I think you might be thinking of something different. These moqui marbles aren't lightweight at all. If anything, they're heavier and more dense than other rocks of the same size. No way the wind is blowing those things around.

I have one that's about eight inches in diameter. I found mine in New Mexico. Rex Bear @ Leak Project found even bigger ones in Northern New Mexico. I wonder what's inside. I only have one, so I won't be breaking and telling.

Moqui marbles remind of apache tears. I have only seen them once on the highest point (haha not that high though) at kasha Katuwe (tent rocks) in NM. They are obsidian and not iron oxide/sandstone though, but rather smaller I think. Still odd formations. I agree with not posting coordinates (I'm pretty sure you'd like that one as well if you ever get to the center of the state). I'm sure I'll be driving from here to southern Utah. (BTW did you know they have found Moqui marbles on Mars which proves the existence of water at one time at least.)

Hi Tristan...I know you have solar now,but in the past have you used any of the small solar chargers etc? I don’t recall you ever mentioning that you do,but I thought I’d ask. If you have,what did you use and if you haven’t and didn’t have your solar set up now,do you have any small ones in mind that you would use? Hard to say what I like in your videos because I love the whole video😁 But I think those marbles would have to be it. Kind of like finding Geodes and seeing what’s inside.

I did have a small folding panel that I used to charge my phone on multi-day hikes. I don't remember exactly what it was. Something similar to "RAVPower Solar Charger 16W Solar Panel" on Amazon. For most uses, I think that it's probably more worth your money to just get a big USB charging brick and charge that as you drive. Thanks for watching, Keri!

This video and my next 30 or so videos were all shot on the Canon PowerShot SX610 HS, but I just got the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS a couple of weeks ago. I'm really happy with it so far.

People can believe what they want to believe, but I have no issues with picking them up and putting them down.

SUV RVing not criticizing just repeating what I was told. I actually have 5 of them that were supposedly not taken from fed land, but I've thought about putting them on fed land, even though it is not consistent with my belief system. ..But I have been a rock collector many years.
