I got a 200 dollar rack from my old high school because it's 8.5 feet tall and it's the first rack I learned how to squat in. 2x3 steel, welded j cups, 1 inch safeties. I put new paint on it and swapped the bolts out for grade 8's. I was super nostalgic when I found out it was for sale

Bodysolid GPR378. Got it back in 2008. Lat attachment. Later the dip attachment. Aftermarket bar holder attachments. The one complaint I hear is the hole size 1-1/4. If you use a 1 inch peg. Take 1 inch pvc pipe cut to length. Slide over peg. Fills up the 1-1/4 hole just fine. Good rack and lasted. 👍

Started out with a Parabody (remember them?) half rack with a built in smith machine and rear plate loaded upper pulley pull down/low pulley row. Made it my outdoor gym when I upgraded to a Rogue Monster RM4 and Monster Westside Bench Rack for the garage.

I have the Body Solid rack because it fit the ceiling height in my basement and I got a fair deal on package bench, barbell , plates and dip attachment. It's 11 gauge, sturdy - works good enough for me. Don't know about attachments tho Probably if I was peiceing it together I would have gone a different route. After about 5-6 yrs I have no real complaints and I'm mostly happy with all the stuff.

Right now, I am just using two cheap stands as my rack. I am not there yet for heavy weights, but they can handle 500lbs. I am personally looking for saving space and I do like the foldable squat racks as I also have martials arts equipment and other stuff in the same room. Still looking for one, but do love the idea of foldable squat racks for saving space and pulling it out when I need to use or put it away after my power lifting workout.

I made my own out of 11g 2x3. I don’t understand the love for 3x3. With 2x3 you get 2 extra inches of space to misjudge your hooks, have a wide grip, etc. I feel cramped lifting in 3x3 racks. No one is going to realize the strength of 3x3 over 2x3 either, and if you’re worried use 7g 2x3. My rack is a double half rack as well. It seems like a much more efficient use of space. Most everyone squats outside their full racks with spotters 4 or 6 posts, regardless. I’m still happy with my rack after having it about 8 years. I’m truly interested why 3x3 and fully enclosed racks are so popular. I just don’t understand, and I’ve really not heard why they’re better.
