I vs. Me
I and Me are Both pronoun. But they are sometimes quite confusing when we pair them with another pronoun.
Take a look at these sentences:
Which one is correct?
She and I went to the store.
She and me went to the store.
The correct answer is:
She and I went to the school.
It is because, I is the subject of the sentence. It answers to the question "Who is going to the store. therefore She and I are going to the store.
How about this:
He put honey lotion on him and me.
He put honey lotion on him and I.
The correct answer is:
He put honey lotion on him and me.
It is because him and me are both objects. Specifically, they are objects of the preposition on.
Another way to test this rule is to see how it sounds when you use each pronoun individually:
She and I went to the store.
- She went to the store,
- I went to the store.
(You can't say "Me went to the store.")
Therefore, She and Me can't go together in this sentence.
He put honey lotion on him and me.
- He put honey lotion on him.
- He put honey lotion on me.
(You can't say "He put honey lotion on I.")
Therefore, him and I can't go together in this sentence.
In a nutshell, the use of I or Me comes down to whether you are using the word as a subject or as an object in the sentence. Both words are pronouns, but always remember that I is a subject pronoun and me is an object pronoun.
That's all for today,
Thanks for watching and bye for now!
