It was actually made by Mannetron not Set Makers. The same company also made the Mac Tonight and Roary the Lion animatronics for McDonald’s. You can find footage of all 3 on KZfaq.

@ColeWalker Thank you for clarifying. Actually, the reason I assumed it was setmakers is because of the base that he's standing on of the grass and flowers is the same as the waving Ronald statue that's made by setmakers. Unless i'm mistaken and that waving ronald statue is also made by Mannetron.

He actually is made by avg animatronics they are no longer in bussness they made the same ronald animatronics and he was actually built in the early 90s he definitely wasn't from the 70s and he did talk and sing and the food did too he was definitely an animatronic it was the ronald mcdonald show and there's a video of him moving and everything at a location in south Dakota

@@mattstecker No. While AVG did make a Ronald animatronic, they didn't make this one. Like @ColeWalker said Mannetron make the animatronic. AVG made theirs around 1984 or 5 and Mannetron made theirs in the late 1980's.

@@papachillothezappey4050 wow that's really interesting and they both look the same they both have the same look so I can't really tell the difference but that's so interesting that 2 different companies made the same animatronic I did see the promo video from the other company and your right lol the only footage of the animatronic and he was singing the hokey pokey lol he's so creepy

I remember watching a video not too long ago where there was an actual working Ronald animatronic. I don’t know how old the footage was, but believe it was a South Dakota McDonalds.

That same statue was at my 5th birthday party where they had the metal playground full of mcdonaldland characters like the fryguys spring horses. I don't remember him being as creepy as this though. Nightmare fuel. Pretty cool to still have one around cuz he was replaced by the bench seat Ronald.

I think it's from the 80s since the Happy Meal Guys are from that era, and these are the updated designs with the cup / fry packaging of the late 80s. Ronald's outfit design also matches the late 80s too.

@usagijojo Yeah, I got filled in on some of those details in this comment thread, so I agree with you now, what was throwing me off was the base of the statue was similar to some of the older setmakers, inc. Grass and flower bases from the older era, so I made an assumption that it was from the 70s.

I always thought when mansard roof McDonald’s get renovated the window decals are removed that says McDonald on it and also did you notice the sunrooms on the side of the building

Moorhead, MN had one of these, and it was a fully functional animatronic (kinda). Ronald’s head turned from side to side & his mouth moved; as well as the drink & burger being able to move their mouths. Nothing special, you pushed a button & they would recite nursery rhymes. P.S., This was just as creepy when I was kid.

Yes, it was in a closed off boardroom that they use for training managers. And it was completely locked up and no one they're at the McDonald's had a key. They said that an outside manager comes in once a week and unlocks it.
