I get offered to visit viewers to partake in their collection frequently, but I don't travel very often nor feel comfortable doing this most times. This was a rare exception because Mr. Gold is one of my longest-supporting customers who has watched my show for nearly as long as I've been doing it! I've worked with many people but some names just stick with you - He and P. Rafferty are the ones I remember!
We take a look at his Gibsons, Vintage Fenders and Boutique guitar but sadly only got to around half of his collection of Fenders! "The Collection Mr. Gold"

I can see where if they wouldve done a true teardrop on the mini trini the the f holes would been lost in the black. I you ever see a Melancon branded guitar check into it. They aren't cheap but well worth a look at least. The luthier is no longer with us but he made guitars for local and world famous artists.

It was a GOLD episode. I loved seeing the small builders guitars. I do not remember hearing of any of them. All the guitars had very distinct personality. Nothing looked cookie cutter and dumbed down.

great episode!!! definitely some pieces i LOVED and did stuff gibson doesn't like particular wood or finishes, not to mention design. thank you for showing off the collection in an episode!!! seeing custom independent guitar maker's work is really satisfying and engaging. plus it gives them some visibility. gibson is great and so are some of the independents! can't wait to see what you ended up buying off of Gold. (next episode? lol. well, hope it's soon!)

I think fiesta red was based on the red used in Fiesta Ware decorative ceramic cups, bowls, plates etc. Very popular mid century modern design style. Same red shade.

Wow what a collection! Loved that mini Trini double cut! Not a big Tele fan but that Korina bodied Tele with the P-90 in the neck was a beautiful guitar! Would love to hear how it sounds! The candy apple red 60s Strat was another beauty too! The Gary Clark JR SGs are such cool guitars, I have the yellow one and love it. Can't wait to see what you got Trogly! Thanks for sharing your collection Mr. Gold.....beautiful!

Those were some nice guitars, especially the Candy Apple Red 1964 Strat, the year I was born. The Fiesta Red Strat reminded me of the one Gary Moore played and BOO! Rolling Stone for not including Gary Moore in their 250 Greatest Guitarists list.

I was trying to find something similar to the Vegas, and I found an older Reverend model, the Manta Ray. Though it could also be more inspired by a Johnny A since the horns are more pointy florentine style. It’s chambered Korina with a maple top… I ended up getting a 290 in flame turquoise for a good price. Edit: Fiesta Red originally looks more like terracotta orange, never saw one go pink!😂

I know it's all just personal taste but I don't care much for the silver burst. I don't think I've ever seen any guitar of any brand in silverburst and thought, "Wow, that looks great."

The fiesta red strat was very interesting. Gary Moore had one. I was always under the belief that the fiesta red had a sand orange undercoat primer, but it was showing grey on he back in the video. I did a fiesta red Tele a few years back and used grey primer as sand was no longe available. I guess it's a question of taking the neck off. It may have had a refinish update?

A lot of people talk trash about GC, I have one about 6 miles from my house and can reap the benefits of going in store, it's been a life saver for many reasons. I've been wheeling and dealing with them for years, I love that they sell, buy and trade used gear if you can go to one in person. My only gripe is when buying used gear they charge shipping which can suck when trying to buy more than one item because they don't combine shipping.

I had red LP standard many years ago (1994) and it was candy apple red according to what I was told. That first one, the custom looks exactly the same color red.

When you read the note out loud that the silverburst was not to be touched, I was expecting it to be a Fender Bass Six in aqua, as in "DON'T TOUCH IT!"

Fun episode! I recently got bit by the GAS bug, but my purchases are at a much lower price point The boutique guitars are a nice break from Gibsontonia , that Asher is gorgeous!

Insane collection! On par with some rock stars... At first, when the LPCs, Explorers, signature SGs, 335s and boutique guitars came out I was like already suitably impressed. Then when the custom colour vintage Strats and the '55 were let outta their cages I was like OK...rock star level!!

Any really old guitars in ridiculously clean conditions should tell you there's probably a very good reason behind it, as in they probably don't play too great. I loved the two red strats though & that corina tele was sexy as f**k! A tele with a P90 in the neck would be something else. I've got a few really nice guitars but I don't imagine poor Trogly would fancy hauling his backside over here to the UK lol.

The strats need to deck the trems on them if u want them to play easier. I’m a tech and that’s what I do to every Strat. Unless the guy knows what he’s doing then I’ll do a floating trem.
