That game was not a great one to judge the atmosphere Leeds fans can muster. The team played poorly and slowly for 80 minutes. Leeds fans are much more reactive to attacking football. And if you had been here when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge you would have seen that they are the best in the country (in my opinion).

most of the comments i've read so far are spot on. english fans react to what's happening on the pitch, whereas other european fans sing constantly throughout the game. both ways of support have their own positives. for example, i feel like when a goal goes in, the roars and chants are louder here in england compared to other countries. but in terms of support throughout the match, other fans are better. personally, i really like the way we support our teams in england. it may seem quiet at times, but when it actually comes down to it, like for example scoring a goal after being 2-0 down, the atmosphere becomes electric. best example i can give this season as a tottenham fan is when we were 1-0 down to sheffield united. it was quiet and a bit flat after they scored their goal. but when we started pressing them in the final 10 minutes, it was probably the loudest i've ever heard the stadium. and when richarlison scored that goal, the roar to get the team moving and score the winner was insane.

Great content overall and wise choice to go to a Leeds United match in England, it probably doesn't get a lot noisier than that, and if it does it's not by much. They did spend 3 whole seasons in the Premier League, not only one, until relegating last May but they did struggle a lot in the Championship before promoting, and when they did, they couldn't play at home with supporters because of Covid. Still, one of the biggest English clubs

No matter how good some fan bases are in England or Britain, they generally are reactive to the action on the pitch and like you said they can be terrible when their players most need their support during a bad phase of the match instead of booing and abusing their own players.

If you get the chance, go to West Ham vs leverkusen next week, London stadium on European nights is rocking (if we concede early it will be quiet tho)

Great video and great editing! I feel for you that you didn't get the proper Elland Road experience. You probably couldn't have visited on a more tense evening than on Tuesday. The atmosphere never really got going, as you witnessed. Had you visited a few weeks ago for the Leicester match, you would have had an entirely different experience. We have had 32 fixtures altered for TV this season and that can really impact the atmosphere with naff kick-off times on random days of the week etc. That said, the Leeds fans still travelled over 2000 miles in ten days for three consecutive away games, playing Saturday, Friday and Tuesday; now that is real support! The Kop always used to be the most vocal of the stands, especially in the days of standing, but for the past decade or so the south stand has taken that mantle. The west stand is notoriously the most quiet, although if you listen really carefully you can still hear Victor Orta's echo, while the east can be hit and miss atmosphere-wise. Thank you for making my city look lovely and all the best for the future. MOT ALAW

To be honest, where you are going wrong in terms of atmosphere at English games is you always go in the home end. The atmosphere at just about every game is better as an away fan. Since we switched to all seater stadiums in England the atmosphere has become worse everywhere. Prices have also contributed to worse atmospheres as tickets are too expensive for many. Pick a good lower league derby to go to next season and you will see a good atmosphere, it seems like those are the only games home fans truly sing at nowadays.

Thanks for the video and for your perspective, mate. I’m a Leeds United season ticket-holder. The atmosphere has been very poor throughout the last 2 seasons, I’m afraid. It had, generally, been excellent in the period between 2014-2021, certainly by British football standards at least, so it’s unfortunate that you didn’t attend during that time. The South Stand had been able to generate an impressive atmosphere when it became our new singing end, following a fan movement to reinvigorate our vocal support by encouraging passionate fans to re-locate from the stand you were in to the one opposite you, the South Stand. Sadly, that has become as complacent as the stand it was supposed to supersede. The fact that the majority of people in our more vociferous stands are season ticket holders mean that no new fans can come in and meaningfully shake-up the atmosphere, nor can like-minded fans congregate together by moving their ticket into the same area. It is a total misconception that tourist fans are to blame for subdued football atmospheres in this country. Rather, in my opinion, it is to do with the mindset of local fans who have more important priorities than singing, such as going for a pint on the concourse while the match is happening or chatting to their mates around them. There is also a culture in Britain where home fans seem to be unwilling to create an atmosphere that is independent of the atmosphere that the away fans generate, which, in turn, affects the overall atmosphere. Further contributing factors include high ticket prices which exclude more working-class supporters. Fans have less power in this country because any element of fan ownership is very uncommon, and there are no highly-organised ultras groups which are able to exert power over football clubs in the same way a trade union exerts power over politics. The atmospheres you see in Britain are a product of mentality (particularly of the younger generation), and a lack of fan representation at institutional level (more preferable to ultras groups, who are prone to behaving like sinister protection rackets, particularly in Italy). But not all ultras groups are like that, I appreciate- many are just decent people who love their club. Many compliments for the video, I shall be subscribing and tuning in again. love from Leeds

Atmosphere died when we got promoted to premier league, spent 3 seasons there not 1. First in Covid season which we came 9th then when fans returned we lost most weeks and since then atmosphere hasn’t returned.

You weren't in the "hard core stand" like you mentioned, do your research, the hardcore stand is the south and has been for about 10 years, secondly the game you went to was extremely poor with our players just slowly passing it about between themselves nervously, whenever a game is like that it does fall a bit flat, no matter where you go.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik het niet met je eens ben. ik denk dat deze club veel meer respect verdient je was gewoon niet bij de goeie wedstrijd. Ik hou van voetbal en het gaat niet goed met mij club😢 maar deze club is heel speciaal en je moet een zeker nog een keer gaan. Als je drums en speakers nodig hebt om sfeer te maken ga lekker naar een concert maar dit is voetbal en ik ben geen fan van al dat ultras gezijk wat ook gaande is bij mijn club. Tip vanuit mij ga meer naar Engelse clubs zoals sunderland, meelwall of luton wat echt passion is en niet om te rellen of de politie lastig te vallen. En geniet van de mooiste sport op aarde💛🖤⚽️⚽️
