Come with me and check out the crazy 2020 (lack of) Geneva Motorshow. It was fascinating to have a look round and see the sad state of the stands being pulled down!
Future videos will be back up to my normal quality, this was a very quick walkaround to show you all how it looked!

It is, but companies have each lost millions this year. Can they afford to take that risk again?

Many of the BIG car companies have stepped down from Brazil's main car show, same for the motorcycle's main event. I believe that it's the first step to each company create more experience focused events. Car companies have forgot that it has to be done for the public.

This is very sad. Sri Lanka's first electric supercar Vega EVX was supposed to be showcased there. They did a small unveiling on location though..

Mental. Used to do corporate events infrastructure for Intel in the mid-2000's, and I thought our CeBIT stand was big, but those are a whole other level!

Layout is very similar to when I went way back in 2015! Hope they can recoup some of the cost, I'm sure they had some form of cancellation insurance.

What a car!! I was due to come to the Geneva Motor Show this week too but sadly I can't see it...so not comings, have flights etc all booked ..I hope they will be in financial and health position to put on show in 2021!

This is so sad to watch. 😟 I hope that GIMS 2021 takes place I've been going there for about 14 years in a row. It was the show I have ever attended. It would have been amazing to see the Gemera in person and all the other new cars.

Motor Shows were in decline in general; Frankfurt 2019 was much smaller than normal with a large number of manufacturers absent. I really hope this isn’t the last straw. Especially since I wanted to go to this motor show this year for the first time

Thx for the vid. It might be useful for those wondering, a little 2 line write up in the description might provide some clarity. In case anyone is a little lost, the 2020 Geneva Motorshow was cancelled after the Swiss gov banned gathering of 1000 persons or greater. They can, but it only really works for the brands who have a big following on social media. The brilliant thing about GIMS is the press are there and report about all new brands, not just the established ones.

I'm fully aware, I have a stabiliser etc, but not with me as I wasn't expecting to be there. This was just a quick video as I thought people might find it interesting :)

Swiss Federal Council exercised their right, and put severse restrictions on public gatherings. All private and public gatherings, where health safety can't be guaranteed, with more than 1000 attends, were banned, for at least 2 weeks. This means GMIS just got canceled a day before opening basically. Many manufacturers will present their products online instead.

I think that Switzerland made a mistake with the timing of the decision, they knew that the most important event of the year was taking place for their country and for the whole automotive world and canceling the event just a few days from the beginning is a economic disaster for everyone, motor show, manufacturers, media etc.

The federal government probably was expecting GMIS to cancel the event on their own weeks ago, but they didn't want to do it. So they stepped in. There is at least a half million visitors to each GMIS. There is now 55 confirmed cases as of today, and it was just few, few days ago. It was a right thing to do. Who will pay for losses, I don't know. I personally don't care for the GMIS, and learn more from online materials.

Hopefully it was cancelled with all good intentions. I think this is also the end of the motor show, considering how many companies weren’t planning on going anyway and that most are launching them online now anyway it makes no real sense to build these huge sets and spend millions to only appease a quarter of the anount that they could of reached online

Exhibtions/shows like this seem outdated now (just not for cars but any product). Perhaps 2020 with see the death throes. The virus has hardly got started. Going to be an interesting year. Good film. At least the contractors should get their final invoices paid.
