The thing about Finnish solitude is that it's liberating. Finns shy away from a lot of social norms as is as they don't really do small talk, they respect your private space and they don't mind the silence at all, but they are absolutely some of the most communal/hospital people out there provided you respect their culture.

Hello Eva. Thanks so much for taking me to meet Janita; I thought I lived an 'off the grid' lifestyle as a self employed musician (I live very frugally) but she was amazing. All the Sami people in your vlogs seem to have a serenity about them; a sense of being at peace with themselves; happy within their own skin. Thank God the same people have survived. Pete Glyde

Sometimes, this old man sees something that brings a tear to his eye. You took me back +30 yrs to my 10 acres and small house 25 miles north out of town into the northern Minnesota wilderness. Where snow was just as deep and the cold was noticeably further below zero Fahrenheit. No reindeer, but sled dogs were popular. I think the reindeer are better suited with their feet like snowshoes. Plus, you only need one instead of 6 or 8. It's a great life for sure.

I read a book in the 1970's called Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintaneance (it wasn't about bike maintence, i was a story of a guy - Robert Prisic, taking his son on a tour around America with his thoughts and philosophy). One observation he made in the book was people who live in dense comuinities like cities have small distances between them but huge emotional distance from each other. On the other hand, people who live a long way from their neighbours with lots of space appear to be much closer emotionaly. Your experiance seems to go along with that idea!

Another Eva Zu Beck masterpiece added to your legacy. 🌿 Btw, your closing statement was perfect! "Maybe in places with so few people and so much space, you end up finding something that's easily lost in the crowded busyness of the city. Just maybe, with all that space around you, you actually get to be.”

So here's a story: if I want to get anonymous, not watched by someone, no social pressure, I go into the city. When it's busy, no-one sees you. At those moments, I don't want to be in a small village where people know each other and such. The smaller the community, the less lonely people are. Thanks for the great video again!

Cope. If you really want to be anonymous, not watched by someone, no social pressure etc. you go into the countryside. Where there is literally no physical way anyone is watching you or judging you because no one exists within eyesight. What you're describing is living in some smaller town with nosy neighbours.

@japsurdejjvvhh7635 Ай бұрын
@@poika22 Not sure. In the countryside there *might* always some local watching and caring. In the vibrant city with lots of people I feel much more confident nobody cares a single bit. But that might be personal, I have social anxiety for individuals and groups but not for crowds. It's actually a compliment for the countryside because I think they care much more, I just don't like that :D

@@japsurdejjvvhh7635 When I'm in the sauna at my countryside cabin and notice I need more firewood, I can just walk naked to the shed to get some. No one reacts because there is no one. Even though I normally live in a major city center, I could not just walk naked around the block without people staring. Any lethargy people in big cities feel only goes so far to "hide you in plain sight". And even big cities have nosy neighbors and rules about noise and all sorts of things you're free from out in the country.

Hi Eva, imagining your travels in a van is comforting. The fulfillment in your purpose isn't defined by your means of travel. I'm pretty sure you know this already; Clarity may bring comfort, but if comfort is all you seek, then you will never find clarity. Believing that the modern-day conveniences of Van Life is more or less deserving to YOUR purpose isn't something to fret about. Oprah said, "Become what you believe." If you want a van, I say, find the perfect van for your travels. You deserve it! If you want a horse and chariot, you deserve that, too. Embracing desired changes or choosing to live a life with multiple identities is A-Okay!

Thank you Eva for sharing this amazing experience. The place is indeed remote but beautiful. The scenic views of places you travel through, makes the viewer think as though, you are the one visiting those places. The quality of the videos is always astonishing. Be safe out there.

Eva, your videos and story telling abilities are unsurpassed. You could make a trip through the Mojave dessert, inside a tunnel, fascinating!
