I Travelled to Almere City as they faced Feyenoord in the Eredivisie but one special feature about today is that the hosts are the youngest club in the eredivisie being 22 years old....

The problem was with the away fans, there where not enough busses to transport all the supporters. That’s why it takes so long before they came.

Almere itself is hardly older than you. In the 1920's it was still part of the North Sea, it was still a lake in the 50's when the North Sea was dammed off, first buildings were in the late 70's and only in the 80's it became a municipality. It's not that small anymore though, but since there was all this new reclaimed land it is one of the few cities in the Netherlands that is flaunting the space. I did a survey there in the late 90's regarding the night life and it was all just barely developped because the young families that moved there in the late 70's and early 80's had only just delivered the first generation of local late teens and early 20's looking to go out. Many preferred not to go to Amsterdam but decided to make something out of the place they got. In the same spirit the football club made a name for itself in a really short time. The city, the club and community are all build from scratch in very short time and Almere's success in the Eredivisie is very much deserved reward that pleases me very much.

It was not part of the north sea. It was call south sea (zuiderzee).

The club was not founded in the city from scratch. They convinced a club from Amsterdam to move to the city and it's been renamed a couple of times before it became Almere City FC.

Actually insane Almere made it to eredivisie so fast and in their first season they are 11th and a long way from relegation. Props to them.

Fun fact: Almere is a city build on land what doesn’t exist naturally. The Dutch just build it themselves. + Almere is the fastest growing city in the Netherlands

Haha, I see myself in the awaystand. WE ARE FEYENOORD! There were not enough busses from De Kuip to Almere. Instead of 5 we had 4 busses. Weird miscommunication from the club. We had to wait for almost 2 hours for the last bus. That is the reason we came 20-25 minutes after kick-off.

It’s a shame I can’t go to the Netherlands to watch feyenoord, I’m from England and I’ve started to support feyenoord because of some of the videos I’ve seen and then they won the league last season. I started to love feyenoord, their fans and the club. They have become one of my favourite teams. Of course I’ll always love my Manchester United and my Mansfield Town but feyenoord has a place in my heart

Love your videos but perhaps next season try to add some things. Interview some fans of the club before the game perhaps. Look up history of the club and talk about for a minute. Do a prediction before every game and see how you do. Those kind of things will make your videos even better! Keep up the good work - hope you enjoyed the extra time you had in Eindhoven.

Almere is a large suburb of Amsterdam. Almere is a new city like Milton Keynes in the UK. The first residents arrived in the 1980s, mainly from Amsterdam. Almere is currently the fastest growing city in the Netherlands and has around 220,000 inhabitants. It was only in the 1970s that the entire province of Flevoland was completely drained from the Zuiderzee.

It's not a suburb. It's not even in the Amsterdam metro area. It's an independent city that's developing its own identity. Of course Amsterdam is the nearest biggest city and many people commute there for work. Just like people commute to Amersfoort or even Utrecht or Schiphol.
