She was always amazing!!! She just didn't have that Britney Spears/Xtina sex queen persona! She couldn't pretend to either even tho her label tried to force her into it. When she tried ...t came off as awkward and forced. because that's just not her. I love that about Jessica She's super real and down to earth. A truly talented beautiful woman, that couldn't get ahead compared to her peers as an artist. Not because she wasn't good!!! She's more talented and more beautiful then any of them imho. But that's not enough folks. Sex sells. And Britney did that part the best. So there you have it.

There is no time to breathe in this song to catch one's breath before the second chorus, thru the bridge, till the end. At 2:55 to 3:05, she doesn't take a breathe and it sounds like 2 separate parts, then she pushes it again at the end. Just phenomenal.

jessica can't even sing this song lol anymore i mean...... just judging from her ability to mimic celine, and christina, i'm gonna go on a limb and say ariana grande COULD probably sing this song since she has a 5 octave range but she'd have to channel christina and not the breathy singing she does on her own sound.

+TaraChristine I doubt Ariana Grande could even attempt to sing this song. I don't see how her range has to do with this because it doesn't take the whistle tone or a particular range to sing Jessica's song. It takes a real powerful voice that stays constantly fully powerful for almost the entire song and the ability to do long sustained belts. Ariana's throat would "physically" explode during the bridge. No one else can sing this song except Jessica.

Um... clearly you've never seen ariana's impersonation videos i.e. Christina aguilera, celine dion, shakira etc. Ariana has a strong voice. she CHOOSES to sing in a sultry style. Jessica could not sing this song today. When she sings nowadays she cuts her larynx off and almost like she's muting herself and she doesn't have the resonance she used to. I'd love to hear what sia or jesse j would sound like singing this song.

+TaraChristina I've seen them and I know she's quite good at doing impressions of other singers. Though, one thing is singing a couple of lines imitating other singers' voices, singing this song and sustaining those belts is another matter. Ariana's voice isn't as strong as Jessica's once-glorious voice, not even in her dreams Ariana would be able to deliver these vocals. She already made a poor rendition of a Whitney Houston's song in front of Obama, she's more comfortable doing songs à la Mariah Carey. I'm aware of the fact Jessica would struggle while singing this nowadays, it doesn't nullify the fact she sang the hell out of this song when she could and I'm pretty sure nobody else could.

@@GeeVoo Correct, it is the same octave I was going to reply the same thing. Perhaps she meant on a couple of parts and not the key itself? Giving the benefit of the doubt of course, but honestly I have heard Simpson sing this live and on the track a few times and I didn't hear anything in this performance that pushed the upper register more than in any of the previous performances. Good singer for sure. Too bad she's pilled out now. I saw her on Ellen from last year and she is not even a shadow of her former conscious self. Really sad.
