Xavier Creighton - yea totally. The Country Gent instead of the Rick 420 was a smart thing to point out. George’s guitar on Hand had a ton of bit and top end. Even the isolated tracks I just used I brightened even further from the iso you’d hear on the isolated channel. The country gent is a lot darker. Once I listened to the old one my heart sank, ‘oh noooo’ I really hate uploading and then taking it down. I assume the algorithm hates it too. Oh well! Posting Come Together drums now!

Awesome! For nearly sixty years I had never figured out the precise instrumentation for this song. My respect for the Beatles playing, notably John's rhythm guitar work, continues to grow. Great job!

We all have original songs, you can find a few on this channel or Spotify. The Beatles are our biggest inspiration, but we dont necessarily try to write like them and try to get a new yet 60s 70s sound. Our second album will be way more Beatle-y, this first was supposed to be spookier and give a little back story to the band name, Ably House

@@mart9468 Well, the Electro 425/450 is pretty clearly based on a Rickenbacker 425/450, but do you have a source to suggest George *didn't* play the song on the 425?

@@riogrande163 oops I’m wrong, never knew it was recorded on a Rick, but yeah just found a source claiming that they did briefly own one and that it was used on this recording. Just never knew they had a 425, so I assumed it should be his gretsch. But obviously ably house did their research better than I did 😂

Yes, it's the one George picked up in Illinois while visiting Louis. It's not confirmed George used it, but the tone of the song kinda gives it away. The Country Gent doesn't give the same bite as the intro, especially those single notes

So it's basically the same as before, but remixed. It sounds clearer, so good job! Man, there's something to be said about the use of the accurate instruments, both for look and tone. The songs just don't sound the same, you know? Maybe I'm crazy. Anyways, I'd love to hear you guys do "California Dreamin'" someday. I know it's not a Beatles song, but I just like it a lot, and I think you guys could do it well. Especially with the two-guitar intro.

It was their 1st song recorded on 4-track (all of their previous work had been recorded on 2-track) so it'd make sense that they'd start off with the backing track on track 1, then the vocals on track 2, then the double tracking and handclaps on track 3, before using track 4 for George's guitar fills.

What does the pickup selector on the 425 do if there's only one pickup?

I don’t think it does anything, maybe a kill switch at best. The knobs are volume and tone. I wasn’t a fan of the one I played. It was like riding a bike with a bent handlebar. I’m a little embarrassed by my playing and feel in this video, my bends are dynamics were off

Say I got a question. In regards to the guitars George used in studio and on stage. How come for "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", George utilizes this Rickenbacher for the studio recording but then goes for Gretsch Country Gentleman for stage?

George did use his Rickenbacker for the stage for a few more months. Hey would you say the Electro es-17 being played in this video is worth it for $1750? My dream guitar is a RIckenbacker and after doing some research, the Electro version of the Rickenbacker 425 is pretty much the exact same as the Rickenbacker version except for a thinner finish and different neck design.

I've had a recording of Neil and Tyson singing P.S. I Love You for a couple years, since we did Julia. I'd like to get that up, not sure why we haven't! Trying to post every Friday now and clear up my backlog of recordings. Was also thinking Octopus's Garden Guitar Only would be cool to knock out, as Brendan and Neil haven't done it yet and I doubt it will be done for a few years otherwise. We were actively avoiding Abbey Road until we got into the studio, we've got one done now! (besides Here Comes The Sun and Something, which are outdated now in my opinion)

BeatlesFan - it was just our plan to make those ones sound extra good. Its The Beatles peak of production in our opinions. I dont think its necessary. I like the black backgrounds better and saving money

Yes, George had recently picked up a Rick to match Johns in Illinois. He had someone paint it black to match Johns. Hand/This Boy was the session they had after returning. George used the guitar through December quite a bit. The tone is more aggressive than the Gent

Not enough low-end on the kick...it would've been WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more interesting to give a proper-modern mix to this song, specially with such a great band + the guys on the vocals.

Cool take bro - this is the “instrumental” mix so people can focus on the instruments. There is a vocal version. There is a purpose to this recording originally - and it wasn’t to please random people who fancy themselves engineers in the 2020s. It’s OK to have had different techniques and perspectives on mixing throughout time - we are NOT at the “ultimate” in mixing right now, they weren’t in 1964 either. It’s just a different take

@@neilcandeloramusic I really dig their mix on "Please Please Me". Wished they did the same here. Beatles released a remastered version in 2015, on their channel for "I Want To Hold Your Hand". Their kick is punchy, as it should, so they obviously couldn't care less for the 60's recording and came out with a version that sounds good. I also covered one of their songs (Anytime At All) by using virtual instruments, too much bass on my kick, but still better than not hearing the kick at all. With that being said...I respect this guys a ton, but I don't fancy their approach on this particular track. What they did it is definitely not wrong, technically is correct, also I'm aware that I'm being subjective as this comment only wishes to express my personal view. All good! 🤗
