What would YOU do with a shed like this??

Pool supplies, like my skimmer, noodles etc....Just curious, some of the plastic things get a smell over time....does the shed have a smell? I know we have a cart at work that smells so bad...like body odor....I've been Leary to buy a shed like that for the fear of it smelling....crazy I know.

🤔I would use it as my sitting area to do my needlework. I would add a rocking chair & a side table big enough to hold my tools, my phone & DVD player, & a drink & snack. If waterproof, I might store my needlework supplies there too. It would be a zone for relaxation & creativity.

I would probably put in a bar for backyard parties. And also store some bbq things in there that seems to always be too long for my cabinet drawers.

My wonderful husband had a beautiful shed built for me. It pink and has a little porch. We learned some important lessons. I don’t use it any more. The main problem for us, is the area we live in. We live in northern Illinois. The summers are very hot and the winters are freezing cold. So we found we were spending huge amounts of money trying to heat it and keep it cool. A lot of my supplies were ruined from sitting in the hot or cold. The porch is cute, but it is wasted space I could have used for storage. We had them put benches in on both sides. I thought I could work on different projects on the benches at the same time. The benches take up to much room. I would have been better off with installing my own shelves. I also thought it would be nice to have sky light. It isn’t nice. The sun beats down on me and my supplies. She sheds look so nice, but they have to be in places that have mild temperatures. Think about what you have and what you like to do, before buying one. We wasted money, because now it is a storage space, of things that are not affected by the weather. I wanted to share my story, because not everything that looks like a dream, is possible. I am much more comfortable in my spare room, with my dressers for storage and miss matched shelves. 😁.

SUCH a valid point!!!!! I loved the She Shed that Shannon, from Daily DIYer made... but, it's a small house - with built in heat and air conditioning!!! It's what was needed to create the space she needed. We often get caught up in the 'cuteness' of it, rather than the function. So sorry you went through all of that.

I know what you mean! I have 5 bonus rooms in my basement and the outside weather is so unpredictable in Kansas. Last week was 89 degrees and HOT, this week its chilly and gloomy, next week we're expecting rain rain rain and it will be about 80+ degrees, So.. bring on the mosquitoes.. :( I'll just stay in the cool dry basement. :D
@libertylost8286

@@OMGwhydoihavethischannelstill It is a beautiful shed and my husband spent a lot of money on it. But the cost of the electricity was off the charts. I had to keep air or heat going regardless if I was in it or not. Adhesives and paints and crayons don’t do well in Midwest weather. Just last night, I decided to use it to build doll houses. Wood can withstand extreme temperatures. I will just have to haul out my supplies when I want to work on it. At least the shed will be used. If my son didn’t make his man cave in the basement, that is where I would have taken over. 😁.

My dream home has a she shed/studio in the back yard off to the side with side access from the front drive. It would need to big big enough to comfortably seat 8 people (for card making workshops) so I would need a huge space and it would be where I spend most of the time. I can dream ❤️🇦🇺

I love that! My 'what do I do with this?' item is a bowl I got when my grandmother passed when I was 9. A family friend took it and held on to it for me. When I moved out on my own, she gave it to me - and it turned into one of my greatest treasures. It's a pink depression glass fruit bowl that is now the centerpiece to my collection through my adult years.

That’s a perfect storage solution and moving the rack out surely did open up your work area. I love your wood rack! That’s what I’ve been brainstorming here. I have lumber stacked all over the place and I really need to corral it. I make wooden signs and decor pieces, and the Dollar Tree wire racks would be (will be!) perfect for creating a ‘filing’ system for my blanks and such. 😁

It really does!!! If you have larger wood that is super heavy, spring a couple extra dollars for the stronger wire racks from WalMart or Target.

Isn't she just the cutest pup? We're trying to train a Malinois/Pit mix rescue we've had for a year now. He was in the system for a year and with the breed, we knew training would be an issue but we were used to the challenge and he's settling in. He was so cute yesterday when he bolted out the back door, and instead of running off, he went straight into the open hatch of the car and sat down. I don't think he understood how happy that made me. -- I think you made perfect use of your new shed. Now, every time you go into your workspace your mind will be more settled. Aren't those screens wonderful? I put one on my little greenhouse to keep the hornets out. Works like a champ!

I have literally talked about getting a shed for years, many years. Now with all the talk of she sheds in the past decade, I was determined to get one. My husband finally obliged me and we have looked many times at possibilities. Like you, however, I just could not decide what exactly I wanted to put inside my she shed, what would I use it for exactly? In the end, I just had too many choices with too many ideas. I have now completely abandoned the idea of a she shed. My husband is building me a craft area in our garage in our new home (after 27 yrs in one home we have moved.) you have been a phenomenal source of information. Considering the things I have, I determined the height and the depth of the shelves I would need, the size of my desktop, and my husband - bless him - has even incorporated the idea of under desk storage. It is not built yet, but it is in the process. Also, thanks to you, I stopped myself from buying storage containers. I will wait till I have unboxed my things. LOL, we may need to hire a marriage counselor or a referee when that process begins because I do agree that I need to get everything out so that I can see everything that I have; I am concerned my husband may not survive witnessing that process. This and other videos you have posted have been a great source of inspiration. Thanks so much.

The mesh lining for Swimware that the boys have grown out of, make handy mesh bags for material, or used as paint templates for a funy design. Also, the older towels that need replacing, make great hammocks for your area! I did not know that they made them so big, thanks for sharing. I will compare prices with Amazon. I just have to take a trip to Home Depot soon and was going to look at options. I love how you organized your work space and wood. I love to see what you make using what you have. I have done similar things and it is a great inspiration! The supply shed is great! ( I would most likely have a lot more supplies on hand as I hate to go to the store for something and find it all gone!) I used to have a she shed that had a day bed, and bookcase in it. I made squares from left over carpeting pieces from installs at a carpet stores dumpster, I even used little pieces, and using double stick carpet tape and arranged them in squares, then I put them down in a colored pattern. I loved to sit out there and read, etc.

I want to start by applauding you and say how proud I am of you. I was a single mom for over 16 years and felt like I was always in survival mode, I wished I had found you sooner as you are quite an inspiration. My current situation is my guy is going to build me a she shed/guest house. I feel very fortunate for this but I was wondering if you have any suggestions before we get started. BTY it is going to 16x24, with a full bath. Our house has only 1 bedroom & 1 bath.

@@juliegalvin2223 measure ...Measure ... MEASURE A G A I N!!! If you're already starting out with PIECES with FIXED dimensions, do NOT E V E N pick up a hammer until you KNOW where everything goes and what's its purpose. PS: You might consider using the DRAWERS to their advantage but put them into "case goods" (or built in, maybe??) that'll make for a more cohesive look.

I would not have put the she shed in the middle of the garden. I would have put it to the back of your garage and also put a foundation down such as planks of wood or paving slabs. Although I do live in the UK and we have damp and nasty intermittent weather, so I am thinking on the UK prospective. But you could make a new seating area/pretty area behind the garage, a bar area for the girls to socialise with friends where Mum can’t see. Norrine you have always said that this space is a dead space! I do have 2 of these plastic clip sheds the size of bin stores and I keep all my camping gear in them, they are brilliant stores and no damp and rot like the wood sheds.

When you said "she-shed", what I thought was like where you are filming. The other was cute, but definitely storage space seemed to be a better fit. I have (started years ago) an outside building that was supposed to be "my space", but.... Is currently not finished (just stud walls and lumpy concrete floor) and misc this and that gets put inside. Oh well. You look like you are doing alright, but I have to admit, I was and still am seriously concerned about you, since taking that covid vaccine thing. I just feel it's important to do your own research before taking a Drs word for it. I pray that you stay safe, times are seriously different now than when we were kids, a whole lot different. Take care young lady. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

That's similar to an 8x10' shed kit we got through Lowe's some years ago. Since we needed it to store larger equipment like our mower, tiller, & pressure washer, having it sit directly on the ground was not an option. Since I'm not experienced in pouring concrete slabs, I decided to build a wooden deck instead. I used pre-made concrete footers and added 2x6 lumber into the top cross "spaces" in the footers. Leveling the whole thing took the longest time, since I had several footers! But I finally got it, & cut & screwed the deck boards on in no time flat. Mama & I did get help from a few friends to have a "shed raising." I basically put together all the components I could (skylights in the roof pieces, windows in wall panels, etc.), & screwed the floor panels to the deck. If I remember correctly Mama & I managed to get the walls up ourselves, though that was a BEAR of a job! Thankfully, the day our friends came over, it took us just about 1/2 a day to finish assembling. And it's still standing & works great! I loved seeing your ideas, Norrine. May I ask about your wood storage area in your garage? You have something hanging on the wall next to the bin you built from the shelf brackets & all. It's grey & looks like an over-the-door shoe holder. It looks like it has pockets, but also thick grey straps or bands. I couldn't tell if you had moulding in it, or rolls of gift wrap, or what. Did you buy that somewhere, and if so, do you know if it's still available? Or can you show a closer-up photo of it? I have a large trash can in my woodworking area that I keep moulding lengths in, & it is not the most practical thing, to say the least. I would love to have something flatter to hang on the wall to hold the pieces. I could make one myself probably, but I would prefer a more detailed/closer look at yours if possible, so I can figure it out. Anyway, if it's not too much trouble, maybe you could feature it in a future video. Thank you for sharing your she-shed journey. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

Way to go!!!!! I put this one together by myself - my helper couldn't come - it was a BEAR to get that roof on alone!!!! But, I was so stinking proud of myself when I finally got it on!!!! LOL That grey thing is a shoe holder, that I made into a wrapping paper holder!!! Here's a video on how I did it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hddnkrp-1qfSgqs.html

I'm sure you are much happier with the new storage space than a new place to sit! Although, it did look cute ;-) It ALL looks much more organized and spacious. I like it! Smart move. I would use it for my gardening supplies and a potting and planting seeds table. Husband uses most of available space having a roof. I do have a little 3 sided shelter in the garden I've been looking at to make use off in that way. I already hang my herbs and garlic to dry there. It becomes a catch all anyway so I should just organize it! I'm sure I will, you've motivated me now, lol.

I completely get the what you want vs. what will work. If I had a shed like that, I'd put it into my courtyard to hold all my gardening tools and pots. Right now, my gardening stuff is on a plastic shelving unit in my bedroom (I live in 500 sf, so not much space to put things), and it's so ugly. I've looked at those sheds, and they are so expensive. I might build something of my own one day.

D A, I SO understand your love for gardening that you'd ACTUALLY live with your "stuff"!! (I, too, was once an avid gardener, til Dry Eye Syndrome took that away from me. That's been m o s t l y fixed, but anyway...) I have an idea to at least disguise your "stuff": Replace or Disguise the shelving, so it looks like a BOOKCASE (maybe with t.C.O.'s foam core?! OR, the black foam that's used to insulate pipes??) Then, "decorate" the outside of cardboard boxes to look like ROWS of BOOKS. Then put your gardening items into these boxes. Viola!!! You have a "LIBRARY" instead of "stuff"!! I'm in the process of doing this kind of thing (kitchen? family room? which, oh which?!?) to stash my paper crafting stash. With the vision issues I've got to craft in the kitchen because that's the room with the best lighting, but the area has GOT to look presentable when I'm not crafting!
