Radiohead songs are never immediate, just about every single thing they do requires a few listens to unlock, but when you do, you will have a song that 'lasts' the rest of your life, no throwaway shit here, no pop songs, no radio-friendly unit shifters that you get sick of after about 10 listens never to return to it. If a Radiohead song hits you and sticks, you will never tire of it, no matter how many times you hear it, for me that means they are writing timeless, intelligent music that will stand the test of time.

I remember buying the album at that time, because it was celebrated in various music magazines and after the first listen I just thought "What is this for a groat?" About a year later I heard the album again, and, well, not so bad. I liked one or two songs. Heard the album again, and again. At some point it "clicked". Today, many years later, Radiohead is for me possibly the most style-defining and interesting band since Pink Floyd, even since the Beatles!

@ISeeGhosts001 not True. You can hear the development through the albums. With The Bends it wasn't the chords which suggested progression, rather the supplementary sounds and the arrangements of the songs. With OK Computer Tom Yorke's melodic footprint is there, just that the starting point has changed. The chords are more complex and the soundscape, bass and percussion, and production are just more complex, well thought of and interesting in their own right.

This song and album was revolutionary with the mix of guitar elements with electronic/synth effects. Not just having guitars and synths, but making those sounds interlocked and indistinguishable. Also Gregorian chant influences, electronica, folk, etc. These eclectic influences never really brought together in this way before. I remember people calling album the Sgt. Pepper's of the 90s (referring to The Beatles experimental groundbreaking album from 1967).

@@tonycowin Agreed partially. Prog didn't have an electronica influence as it preceded that genre (unless you count Kraftwerk as prog, but they were only proto-electronica). Radiohead is definitely like Pink Floyd. It's multiple listens in different moods and then it just clicks. Weird Fishes is my absolute favorite song of all time. Everything about that song is perfection.

I totally agree with the Pink Floyd aspect. I always thought there were similarities in their way of composing and exploring music, mainly in OK Computer and Floyd's albums from the 70's. Every time I hear the drums opening on Climbing Up The Wall, I can't help myself having Nick Mason in mind. 😅

@@Is.this.thing.on- Yeah Tool, Radiohead & Silverchair are in my top 5 favorite bands. All three are SUPER tight LIVE, too. They never miss. And they happen to be 3 of the most unique bands ever. In a class of their own, respectively. True artistes... Nobody quite like any of them. Creative geniuses. Thom has such a haunting voice... transports me to a time long since passed. Good Times & memories indeed. 😜🤘

Please react to Reckoner or Weird Fishes from the basement both amazing performances especially watching them pull these intricate songs off live flawlessly. Radiohead almost always takes multiple listens to digest but when you have your cathartic moment you will probably be a fan for life.

I've been watching and loving all your Tool reactions. Radiohead is god-tier in a completely different way. What they both have in common is that you can basically pick any album and the entire thing is going to be great. Looking forward to seeing you go through this journey.

This is in my opinion top10 of all songs of all time. I appreciate your reactions man, glad you checked Radiohead, now you're down the rabbit hole (and I'm right because I saw later videos of you reacting to them, I can see they got under your skin). Now, don't know if you checked Karma Police from them yet, but that would be a good reaction, check the official clip. Again, I really appreciate you and your videos, I thank you for the entertainment and the revisit of some songs that I had not listened for years (not including radiohead as I listen to all their albums regularly), I wish you the best for the future and if I figure out the whole patreon thing, I would definitely be interested into your channel. Anyway, peace, hug the people you love and continue your thing, I'll be watching.

Love it nailed it, this is such a powerful track. It's not written to be easily accessible (despite its huge commercial success) - It's a super powerful reflection on modern and futurist social and global issues, portrayed through a really abstract delivery (Them Yorke provided an overwhelming mind melt, a monologue of someones overwhelmed interpretation of their own alienation, the rise of tech, dehumanisation, fear, confusion of their own place in the world etc). Jonny Greenwoods synthesis and anti guitar delivery along with Ed and that explosive rhythm section ebb, flowing and explode through the mix during the intense moments. Im really glad its understood on a human level as a shared experience, as its again really not easy listening. I love how they helped paint an industrious breakbeat style backdrop in 'Talk Show Host' featured in Romeo + Juliet during this period too. Thanks for the review man big up 🙌

This album, cover to cover, is one of my favorites. Believe me, some Radiohead you have to really be into that specific vibe (Kid A for example is a lot of people's favorite but it isn't really my thing for the most part), but I feel like this album was still pretty accessible for most people to listen. Airbag, Karma Police, Electioneering are all great tracks from this album. Actually I might give it a listen today, it's been a while since I had a full sit down with it.
