Awe, I am so sorry about your cottage garden. We had a similar thing happen to us. We have many deer where we are. We have a fence around our garden, one time we forgot and left the gate open to our garden and the deer got in and ate everything down to the ground, and I mean everything. We were devastated too. We had to replant many things, but all of our tomatoes and peppers came back, and even seemed much better and bigger. So, there is hope that many of your plants will come back even better than before.😊😊😊

I'm so sorry, Jill. That's so heartbreaking. It's a lesson to us all that things happen out of our control sometimes. The question is how are we going to respond? You're such a wonderful joyful person and I know you'll handle this with grace. And as I wife I totally understand 😅 what a good wife you are to go back and apologize. I've had many of those moments! God bless!

Aww, Jill I know how much the cottage garden meant, what a loss for this season. 😢 You and Nate never cease to “tell it like it is” and I can certainly relate to “heckling your husband” on certain projects. We had a time where 85 head of cattle got out and wondered through the neighborhood. He let out the normal call and they came running like herd of mad cows and he had to jump behind a tree to keep from getting ran over. They were like we found our human. These are 1200lb momma cows and about 30 youngster calves. They know where home is but thats they roll.

Look at it this way... The cottage got a major haircut. God willing they will all come back... even better than before! I had a dill plant that was eatin up overnight and a little tiny stock was the only thing left from that Dill plant and today that dill plant is quite large for the massive destruction it went through. I am so sorry. I know how heartbreaking that can be. I'm glad you spoke so honestly about the anger and reaction you had because let's face it, that is what anyone would do when that happened. The fact you and your husband talked it out and worked through it was the most inspiring. I'm sure he was devastated as well and that you saw that despite the anger was so important. For me, your example of forgiveness was the lesson to take away.

I have been there and feel your pain. Our small flock of about 6 sheep leveled our vegetable garden (several years ago). All of my hard work was totally wasted and we were left with no harvest. I complained to my husband for not mending the fences. What a waste! I was furious. We both learned lessons. We traded the sheep for half a beef, and that was the end of trying to be sheep herders. So sorry for your terrible experience. 😢

Oh man, I am so devastated for you about the cottage garden!!! Last week I lost all of my favorite sunflowers from literally just a 10 second micro-burst of wind. (Zero wind all day, it just came out of nowhere). Not even close to the amount of loss that you had, but I was in the worst mood for 2 days after that. So I can only imagine how much you mourned over your entire beautiful garden. I know how much joy, love and hard work it takes to have a special space like that. I’m sure you’ll rebuild that space to be even better though! I hope you and your family have a lovely Memorial Day today!

OMG, so sorry to learn about the damage to your Cottage Garden! I was so happy for you in the video you shared recently in the Cottage Garden. Somehow, we all have to look at these things and learn from them, take the good with the bad in the overall experience, and move on. That said, I believe you have the best loving and supportive husband and family. He looks at you so lovingly and adoringly and that is huge as I did not have that in my first marriage and for many years I felt alone. You guys are a good team and will endure life's trials and tribulations as a good team because you love and respect one another and it truly shows!

Things happen that we just can't change, I learned this a long time ago. Even though it is devastating and it breaks our hearts it can be replaced in time. I try really hard not to dwell on this type of things anymore, my husband of almost 30 years has cancer again for the 6th time and it is taking it's toll this time more than ever, he is trying to get things fixed where I can take care of thing's myself as I am disabled with very limited mobility. Things like raised beds, a chicken pen that I can take care of, and just a bunch of things like that.

I feel your pain….we took our kids swimming and we came home to the 2 milk cows who escaped and were in my garden when we got home. Going out to the garden they ate all my glass gem corn, which I was growing just because I thought it was beautiful, and was my “fun” crop. Then I realized they ate ALL my sweet potato slips that where just starting to vine. I was so upset I was devastated, even told my husband I was done gardening, as I yelled at the cows and cried!!!! He was encouraging and said at least that was all they ate and offered help, and took care of the cows…..a few hours later I was out in the garden ripping out the damage and a getting ready to replant, I love gardening and it’s something I could never give up, just have to keep going, luckily we are in Florida so I have the option to replant!!

OMG I really fell bad for you and the garden loss. I understand how it feels when you pour all of yourself into a project and something anything comes along and destroys it. We get mad at those we love the most. In these moments I try to remember that those of us that have a beautiful abundance of something we are the ones that have the most to lose. God has a way of humbling us at any given moment. I am so happy you did express that you can change your attitude and not let it steal your joy. Just think when you get it back to where you wanted it how so much more special it will be! I am so glad you shared this and gave folks a new way to think about loss and how we can look to God to help us prioritize how sad we should be and to never let these things steal our joy and taint our present moment. All gave some and some gave all take a moment to remember those whose sacrifices we celebrate today with humble gratitude and reverence. God bless us today

I'm so sorry, I just had a similar experience. I planted an orchard ish. Fruit and lemon trees and berries. Set up timers to water while we left for the week to the lake. My husband wanted to wash the Sea Doos and used the hose going to the orchard timers. He assumed the hose was going to the RV and didn't put it all back. I was devastated and heartbroken. All the work but my husband doesn't understand the time needed to start a garden/orchard and timing. Hés no longer a heifer, lol and we are re planting as time allows.

🤣 it's funny reading this but I know you were devastated. Hopefully your orchard will be better and he learned his lesson

I went to the shop to order a coffee mug and could t find one. Please tell me there will be more @Whispering Willow clay coffee mugs! I meant to order one months ago and forgot about it. And now they’re not there 😞 I’d also love to buy a African handmade basket. Please let me know if you will have more of those 2 items. Thank you! And thank you for sharing!
