Thank you for sharing. These personal accounts are so important. Especially when people are now saying but you got 0% fees increase what more do u want? Or you are asking for too much. How is asking for respect and dignity too much as financial exclusion forces you to see urself as lacking an inadequate. The trauma you went through as well as your parents is not acceptable for anyone to go through.

The same exact thing happened to me this year.... I was really crushed but i'm thankful that God is with me. I'm from Zimbabwe and this happened to me from Varsity college my fees spiked to R80k per year and my mom lost her job but my dad is a civil engineer which means we are still middle class level even in SA standards. I cried my eyes out to my friends talking to them about my situation and i'm grateful for them but like i said God will always find a way for us. You are a huge role model to me because even through the obstacles you went through you still created your business and in my early 20s and i hope to get to do what you are doing in my future. I know i may not have a say in fees must fall in SA since im Zimbabwean but good luck guys, we can all get through this

Got accepted to Wits, was also black middle class, I didn't have any money and my parents were both couldn't afford it and they didn't qualify for student loans. I luckily had my brother who could step in and get the loan for me and I could complete my degree. I am very grateful but at the end of my studies I will still have the loan to pay off and that might put a lot of strain on me in future. Something has to be done

The #FeesMustFall movement has been long overdue. Till you see of people sleeping in Libraries, "squatting" and finally going through Academic Exclusion, you'll never truly why students put their lives at risk by striking.

This was so me in 2014 at the university currently known as Rhodes... my parents had the 10 months payment plan and they paid the MIP early for me to go to Rhodes but I was excluded because of a one month default payment they didn't make because that month was rough...thank you for this..it helped me overcome a lot.

When i was in highschool, i though feemustfall movement was delusional cause at that moment i thought varsity fees where the same as highschol fees and if fees were to be brought down then it means the standard of education will go down too. I always preached going to a private university until i couldnt even afford to pay certain application fees, and then registration fees but lucky enough i got approved by NSFAS and honestly, my mom wasnt gonna afford none of this. We owe the movement so much, grateful.

Fees will always increase because of operational costs at varsity. Salaries have to paid. New equipment has to be paid. Internet has to be paid for. No freebies

I also had to drop out because of financial exclusion. Moved back to EL and started from scratch at Unisa because they wouldn't release my results while I was owing. Needless to say I am still studying and I dont care if I can only afford to do one module a semester I will finish what I set out to do. Thanks for sharing this ❤️

Don't you have student loans in South Africa? I pay for my education with borrowed money. Because the student loans in Norway have such a low interest rate it is basically free money meaning that even if your parents pay for your education, you can take the student loan and invest them in an index fund for a profit. I don't think education should be cheaper in a country that is as poor as South Africa, especially not at an educational institution that is as good as UCT, where you are almost guaranteed a job with a good career progrssion after your studies. I just want to add that I don't like the fact that you mention race in most of your videos. I am a coloured person living in Norway, and race for me is not a big part of my life. You are a black person living in a black majority country, and you seem to be obsessed with race.

We actually have a bursary scheme called NSFA that finances over 20% of all students across all tertiary institutions on a scheme that only requires students to pay back a percentage of their salary depending on what it is (lower salary means they pay back a lower percentage of their salary). While they're unemployed or studying, they dont have any obligation to pay anything. There numerous other student loans that are offered to those that dont qualify for NSFAS (can afford a loan to pay for university). Race is a major topic here usually by the government as an excuse to never have to do anything because of our history and that's why this person also has fallen prey to the victim mentality that everyone of a certain colour skin deserves to be given free everything for life (housing, electricity, education, healthcare etc). There is no focus towards a better future, only a focus on the past about why nothing will be done about it. That's why there's even many racist policies that give black people a huge advantage over whites in business such as BEE.
