the tragedy of the main character, who was only ever a victim of circumstance, and his nightmarish ordeal that only gets worse, and the ending which we known is coming and there can be only one sad fate for the narrator...idk man this story is just haunting and alluring all at once. a deep cosmic horror that leaves a lasting sting.

It's almost difficult for us to fully comprehend the scale of this tragedy. If every single day you make even 1 choice that shapes your future in some small way, across 14+ years, the number of different versions of you that now exist is so large that we don't even have a name for it. For all intents and purposes, it's infinity. The main character's power is not unique. The other versions of him have it too, and over time and across all the different universes more and more of them become lost in this body-swapping hell. Killing each other in an attempt to find solace until inevitably only one remains. Infinite families will be laid to ruin and infinite loves lost. Its destruction on a scale we've never seen before.

Well he's not supposed to. And he mentions in the beginning when fighting with his parents about letting him go to the concert that he didn't think he would be able to convince them in part because they found out about the smoking a few days ago so clearly they don't approve. I don't think the minds of the bodys were lost, I think they were pushed out. Then they would learn how to take over another body. This would exponentially grow the number of versions trying to take over someone else. That would explain the headaches getting more frequent. Since he was the original his mind was the strongest to resist being taken over.

I thought.this was well written and well read. I could visualize the story and saw the train wreck coming. The "grass is always greener" message is pretty powerful given the most hideous price. It also touches on the idea that each of us affects others in ways we don't realize - and it can be devastating. I loved it!
