Honestly if you were to ask me before I watched this video who was in net against the Malik shootout goal I wouldn't have even known. It's the move that everyone remembers.

I will never forget the next week of practice as a young teen at the time living in ny ...every play was between the legs. Pass, shot check it really didn’t matter lol great memories

I love how Malik reacts so nonchalantly to what he did. Dude just scored the greatest shootout goal ever, and won the game. And he's just like, "Yeah, it was nothing."

Fantastic interview. The shootout went far longer and was more dramatic than most, typically done after 7 rounds at most. This went well beyond, with Rangers players scoring each time a Caps player would score. It was amazing to watch.

The Caps need to retire Kolzig's number. It is way past time for them to do that.

They definitely need to, but if they were to retire another number before Ovechkin or Backstrom retire, it would probably be Bondra. He scored 500 goals in the dead puck era, but after him it would probably be Kolzig.

My Rangers should’ve won the Atlantic Division crown that year. Then, we would’ve beaten New Jersey in 7, after blowing a commanding 3-1 series lead and then we would’ve lost in 5 games to eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina.
