So basically Bang Chan wrote the song kind of describing his time as a trainee. He started as a trainee at age 13 until 20 so basically he gave up his entire youth to focus on the future he wanted to have and it wasn't easy for him. His friends that he made in the company constantly either debuting without him or being cut and going home, it was really really hard on him.

To add to the 7 years of training for Chan that inspired this (mentioned in other comments): Chan mentioned that many people in the company looked at him with pity, asking why he was still there and why he hadn't given up, implying that the company would never believe in him and make him debut if they hadn't for so long, trying to hint that it was time for him to let go of his dream, at least at jyp. I'm glad that he believed in himself enough to continue. It left him traumatized though. Training was traumatic for all of them but especially Chan. I can only be thankful for him being rewarded by jyp with letting him choose the members and giving them quite a bit of control over everything. It's not perfect but look at what they have created! They are sooo creative and different than everyone else. It's judt what they needed

This song is SUCH a good example of why Stray Kids has gained a reputation of matching their featuring artists' genre and vibes well. They very rarely have any pop-punk elements to their music but this matches LiSA so well sound wise while still talking about their (especially Chris's) experiences of anxiety and self doubt on the road to debuting. Love that you loved it!

I found a theory sorta like yours from STAY Aiana shared some interesting thoughts on the "paper bag heads": If you pay attention to the lyrics ("I'm tossing, turning in my bed. The voices in my head again"; "Evil thoughts taking over, I'm let it go"), you'll see that, even though the paper bag people can be the ones on the internet, being judgmental and aggressive or something like that. It's more possible than not, that these "people" are actually their intrusive thoughts saying they're not good enough. Since these lyrics is heavily based on Chan's experience as a trainee for 7/8 years, so LiSA could represents someone way more seasoned that has passed through it all already and not only survived, but thrived. - So let's go to the signs: - ❗. Ideas, creativity (but on an overwhelmingly level) - ❓. Doubts and not believing in yourself - ➕. Trying to see the bright light and staying positive. - ➖. All the depressive and negative thoughts, wanting to give up. Throughout the MV, Chan is the one that is constantly chased, suffocated & being captive by the creatures. The other ones are haunted by them, but none as heavily as him. At the end we see Lee Know, Changbin leading the others, all fighting the bad paper bag creatures (evil thoughts), tearing through the wall, before they finally reunited. This could represents how Stray Kids (the members) saved Chan. Always together. I am always impressed by word play in lyrics and they are using visual imageries to do the same. As we all know that Chan has fought hard to keep his members safe and together, time and time again, even taking hits himself but we see how they equally would charge in to save and protect him also. 🖖🏼

They also released the Korean version on Rock Star. More epic songs on the Japanese is Scars and The Sound. Stray kids songs, Top and Slump are the intro and outro songs for Tower of God.

Evil thoughts taking over... his inner struggle to keep going. Chan has said before how if it wasnt for the kids coming into his life he might not still be here on this planet. He credits them with saving his life. If you think about he suffered for 7 years and the fates gifted him with 7 new family members. One for each year. On another note... their song Timeout has a fun pop punk feel to it.

One thing that makes you really fun to watch is the way you are very open minded about music. You can listen do different styles and genres and dance to all of them instead of hating because it’s not your usual style! The songs meaning is really deep and you have seen the comments explaining it already so now you know a bit more of Bang Chans trainee days. We are so proud of him that he have gotten this far and all of us are so happy he never gave up on his dream even though it was draining for him!
