I've always seen people in the comments claiming that their dumbass friends actually believed the video was real or that their teachers accidentally showed the video to the class but I was never sure if that was true or not. This is perfect evidence that all those events were real and I can finally enjoy thinking about how many people unknowingly clicked on the video expecting it to be the original content. Lol to be fair the first video I ran across of his I didn't realize was satire at first, because the narration was relatively tame and it was something i knew so little about i had no context for comparison. It doesn't take watching much of his stuff or reading many comments to know it's not real though. Really, this just goes to show how good he is at this job that he can confuse anyone even for a short time. But yeah dude, an actual article really needs more effort researching its veracity than a random person scrolling through KZfaq landing on recommendations like I was lol

Second note after thinking about it, how do people not understand that How it's Actually Made is satire?? Like, I have a poor understanding of social cues and don't receive sarcasm well, and I think it's one of the funniest series on KZfaq. These people supposedly have a normal grasp of comedy and what's supposed to be funny, assuming the majority of them are mentally stable, neurotypical people. I am neither of those things. the issue is, I don't think thats down to people being too dumb to recognize satire, I think it's that the shit that isn't satire, is sometimes more satire than the satire. Like that one post about how air conditioning, yes, air conditioning, is sexist. Dead serious too. I know it was dead serious because it actually tried to qualify it, saying "well it's not the machine or concept itself that is sexist, it's just that it's set at uncomfortable temperatures" and those sorts of qualifiers don't work in satire. So this person, genuinely, actually, wrote a full fucking article, complaining that air conditioning, yes, that air conditioning, is sexist... people are definitely getting dumber, but I genuinely don't think thats why they can't see satire, I think the reason people can't see satire anymore, is because not-insignificant numbers of people genuinely believe things, more crazy than actual satire. Y'know, like politically aligned air conditioning. Irrelevant of what you think about sexism, whether its a thing we need to worry about today, how bad it is, whether it's a threat to society at large, etc. I think everyone watching this video can understand, once again, bloody air conditioning, is not a political statement. And yet, for some reason, I need to add the qualifier of "... watching this video ..." after the word "everyone"

Admittedly the first time I watched a Hugbees video it took me a little bit of time to figure out that it was a parody only because the video was made so well. Keep up the great work. Edit. Please I don't want to delete but please know that my youtube was stupid and didn't load most comments at first and so I was mislead as to what people were commenting. I see what the og is talking about now. And I find it as funny as he did. The statement below should not be taken seriously but more as a reminder that we can joke about these things but please don't forget that they are jokes. And just ya know. I have a strange mix of emotions: -First, I felt confused. Was this a mistake on the part of someone on CNN? Did they watch your entire video and think "yeah this is pretty funny I'm sure our audience will like it"? Was this the work of some prankster? -Second, I felt bad for the people who were expecting an uplifting or at least interesting video about bread but instead got you. Not that there's anything wrong with you, I like your videos, but I don't think they're the kind of thing the audience of CNN would like. -Third, I felt confused again. Why the Hell are so many people complaining about how it's inappropriate for children? Do they just show everything CNN puts out to their kids? 10/10 video, a rollercoaster of emotions.

I think it's because they grew up in a time where you couldn't swear on TV and anything risque was shunned. They see CNN as being "professional" in that same way. They see the video as a breaking of that professionalism.

"This is not appropriate for children" just kinda means "this violates my cultural/social sensibilities regardless of the proximity of a literal child", i think. I think that really sells it when you convince the audience it's real initially but with a "this narrator has a sense of tv friendly humor" and then escalate from there. I can't remember which of your videos I watched first but I was really confused for the first 30-40% of the video until I looked at the channel and the comments and realized I was watching a parody.

"Do you need a ABC laugh track in the background?" Actually Huggbees, a small test you could do is actually adding an obviously fake laugh track in and see if people like them actually like it more. Knowing people like them, they would laugh right along with the laugh track regardless of the jokes being made

What you have to do is have it play only after joke lines- most of the time. Sprinkle in just one or two laugh tracks for serious lines that sound a bit strange, and/or include one or two jokes that don't get a laugh track that are _almost_ believable.
