My Dad got molested by priests when he was just 10 years old and the thing that really pisses me off is that he couldn't do anything because he couldn't tell anyone because nobody ever believed him.

I'm an atheist, but I am so pissed that this happened. It's not my place to tell you what you should or shouldn't believe. But this is the kind of stuff that ruined Catholicism for me. In my private middle school there was a vice principal that touched girls, and it went unnoticed for years. That was only 3 years ago. This sort of stuff is still happening today. I left that school and was finally free from the school filling my brain with the bible. And I realized that I identified more as an agnostic atheist than a Christian. If you are a parent DO NOT send your kids to a catholic school until they are old enough to choose what they want to believe. I can not stress that enough. I wish I could take all those years back. I was told "you can't question the Bible". When I did I was sent to the principal's office. I wanted to do an experiment with transubstantiation, but the principal made me go to reconciliation. When I'm older I want to become a physicist. Leaving the Catholic Church was the best thing that ever happened to me. The title of this video makes sense to me. Yes, the priest was the one that touched him, but the church's silence on the matter disgusts me. And you have no idea how many dioceses still do this. And the thing is, no one tells you the dark side of the church.

When I was 5 I left the Catholic Church. Being 5 and just knowing that you just had to be there I really hated cause pretty sure everyone hated going to church when they were 5. But our priest got drunk one night and did a hit and run on a little boy who later died, he also molested * if that's how you spell it* our alter servers and my sister was an alter server. So we decided to leave. Than we went to a Lutheran church for VBS cause my sister was invited to help a friend and I was 7 when this happend and now i'm Lutheran and I love it!

As an Atheist, I don't think that a lot of you people should be saying that every single priest or volunteer at the Catholic Church sexually abuses kids...there's people who sexually abuse children/teenagers who aren't religious at all, and can even be atheists sometimes. My friends and I were verbally abused by the teachers at my Catholic elementary school, it was the worst 6 years of my life until they finally closed my school last year. The Catholic Church and school system is wonderful at sweeping things under the rug.

I was molested by my pastor,in the Lutheran Church. Never said anything to church officials. I told my parents and my aunts and well,no big deal to them. It wasn't extreme,but it was enough to make it to wear every time I see him,I get chills,my stomach hurts,and my head gets foggy. It sucks.

I'm really sad that this people had to pass through something like this. You feel such comfort when you are with religious people but when this things happen you start to really question everything. I, as a catholic, am really sorry about this people. The thing is calling this video "being sexually abused by the catholic church" is simply generalizing a lot of people into doing such horrible things. I was abused by a priest in 2001… I reported it in 2018 and went to criminal court against my abuser in 2019. He was found guilty. The sentencing judge made a racist remark about jury selection and was forced to step down.. the new sentencing judge HAD WORKED WITH THE DIOCESE before becoming a judge and at sentencing the defense lawyer said ON RECORD “judge ****** i have fond memories working with you” The new sentencing judge said “the prosecution stated searching for a lawyer [which happened after the grand jury indictment happened- and was one of the DA’s closing argument- that the priest found out there was an investigation into abuse and immediately searched for a lawyer- was not a sign of guilt… he may have been looking for a lawyer for his will” On this technicality my abuser was given a retrial and fully reinstated as a priest. On this technicality he overruled the previous judge’s verdict and recommended jail sentence. This happened in March 2020.. the DA immediately got an appeal approved and it went to superior court appellate court in October 2021 AND I AM STILL WAITING TO KNOW THE VERDICT OR IF THERE WILL BE A RETRIAL!!!! This trial was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do. I was living abroad working when I reported it and because of how the justice system is I had to come back to the USA 4 times in one year which resulted in my termination. This man not only ruined my life, but the justice system dragged this out and because of this trial I was unable to fly back to where I was living. So for 2 years I’ve been stranded in America- away from my loved ones and the life I built despite the trauma I endured at the hands of “a man of god” and I just have to wait. He was convicted once. Repealed on a technicality. And this has made my life a living nightmare- waiting every day, every week when I will hear the appeal verdict. This is torture.
