There is so much to love about Siem Reap. From it's lush greenery, long river boardwalk stretching through the center of the city, amazing international restaurants and an abundance of historical sites to visit, it really has something for everyone. Join me and my Dad as we explore this beautiful city beyond its main association of the stunning temple of Angkor Wat (that will be its own video). Hope you enjoy this video and make your own visit sometime soon! xx

The travel health insurance I use - PassportCard Nomads: www.passportcardnomads.com/?r...
*I highly recommend this travel health insurance because you don't have to pay out of pocket for your medical expenses and they have very reasonably priced long term plans. You can buy the packages for shorter trips as well, but they're especially fantastic for digital nomads and nomads who want regular health insurance when they are abroad. I am an affiliate of this company, but of course use the plans myself.

The city of Siem Reap has very clean streets and sidewalks. The public squares are beautifully tree-lined and some restaurants are dominated by typical Cambodian vegetation. It is a very interesting video about the country Cambodia. I imagined Cambodia very differently. I had some memories just about the terrible wars!

Cambodia developed a lot over the past twenty years or so. And in just the past three years, upgraded their infrastructure in many places... like Siem Reap... rebuilt streets... built sidewalks, Paved more dirt streets. But in the villages.... there is still very very much poverty.

@@harshrao821correction; Cambodia has never been a part of India but the culture is influenced by Indian and Chinese. Cambodia former names are Funan, Chenla and Khmer Empire. Khmer is the race or ethnicity of Cambodia. Khmers has many different skin tone and appearances, farmers are generally has dark skin and city dwellers has lighter skin and majority of them are mixed with Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai , Lao, Javanese, and Cham. However, 95+% of the people call themselves Khmer. Cambodia is like a melting pot of South East Asia. It’s sometimes, I myself can’t even tell who’s Khmer or not until they start talking due to the difference form, appearance and skin tone that the Khmers have. The majority of Khmers/Cambodian are Buddhist , and you may already know that Buddhism is one of the most peaceful religion in the world, and that can explain why Khmers are very friendly and peaceful people. And the Muslim Cambodian are very different from other Muslim around the world. They’re also very nice, friendly and peaceful people. It’s maybe because they have lived and shared so many things with their Buddhist neighbors for centuries and has adopted the way of lives of the Buddhist. Religion tolerance in Cambodia also plays a big role in maintaining peace and security in Cambodian society. The vast majority of Khmer/Cambodian do not discriminate against others religions and/beliefs because Buddhism has no such restrictions on their believers or followers. And most recently, the government of Cambodia has appealed to all citizens and relevant security officers to help keep all tourists and expats safe and make them feel at home while they are in Cambodia. If you suspect any safety threat while in Cambodia, you should report it to police , they may take your concern very seriously due to the government recommendation.

"Visit Angkor before you die" Enjoy your travels with your lovely dad. I visited this historical city temples as a boy with my family way back in the 60s. Sadly, most of them did not survive the brutal genocide there from 1975 to 1979. Only memory lives on. Life is short to do the things we don't love doing. There are always pros and cons no matter where we live. Be kind, be cool, and be happy. Greetings from a genocide survivor in Minnesota . Sharing is Caring!

Great video, so glad you share the adventure with your Dad. Siem Reap is a very special place. I first visited there in 2001 and came back many times to help support the landmine survivors. The city has changed SO much over the decades, some good, some bad. The 'Old Market' would have dozens of amputee beggars around it, but they were very polite and never harassed people for money. If you are still there consider renting a bicycle and riding up and down the river, many beautiful sites. Thanks for the travelogue!

Gordy eats quite a lot of veggie dishes although that may simply be because of the food culture there. He’s a carnivore from Saskatchewan after all. The diet suits him because he certainly looks healthy and lean. The city is very impressive!
