Continuing my nomad life at the Salton Sea I dared to enter a place I was warned not to go. Slab city was full of RV lifers and nomads, calling rugged and often trashed plots of land their own. Known as the last free place in the country, we venture out to see the reality of slab city for ourselves.
Along with my two dogs we also explored the area of slab city known as East Jesus. This was a very unique place with art sculptures made from salvaged junk found throughout the notorious slab city.
SUBSCRIBE to the GOT OUT channel to follow along with me and my two dogs as we live the nomad life searching for adventure and answers across the western United States. Traveling in an RV, camping and Boondocking along the way, we find many interesting places often among nature.
Check out my next Slab City adventure here: • The Salvation Mountain...
Or watch this video of one of the SCARIEST things I saw at the Salton Sea here: • I encountered a HUGE R...

I see a lot of people in comments saying how it should be bulldozed or burned to the ground. The mental institutions in this country all closed in the early 1980's and these people don't have many places to go. They realise they can't live in a structured society and don't want to burden towns and cities, so they go there. Its better then having them in tents on the sidewalks in the city. Leave them alone, they're not bothering you.

Hi. Nice camera work. My partner and I lived at East Jesus for three months. I created the wind sculpture with the keys hanging down. Thanks for showing it. I haven't been there in a few years. The art there is called 'assemblage art' basically taking items that would be thrown out and recycling them into art. You don't need to be afraid of the blm art. Art is political. Too bad someone wasn't around to answer your questions. The TV wall was made by Flip Cassidy and he is brilliant. The people out there were fun and interesting but it was hard work because EJ is completely off grid. Safe travels.

Not a fucking chance. Everything they have there they have to scrounge for or still buy at the store. Once a post apocalyptic scenario becomes real, there's no more food at Wal-Mart, no more beer, cigarettes, weed, clean water. Someone who prepares for the end, will be the winner. Living day to day isn't preparing, it's existing.

Deserts are so unique compared to say the midwest where I live. None of this art would last long near my area because rain, wind and snow would take over. It is cool tho. Beginning from the 8:31 mark, the synthesizer sounds like it is saying, "They think we do that kind of stuff," howbeit repeatedly. This reminds me of the small camp surrounded by the enemies, and how fire would come down from Heaven and devour those enemies, surrounding the camp of the saints. But hey... My mind is kind of out there, sooo.. just my personal analysis. P.S.... if AND when the End Times from the Bible Scriptures DOES happen.. I just may have to abandon my comforts and live here; off the grid. P.P.S... what if the hot sun IS that fire from the sky? Who really knows?... Crazy stuff bro.. thank you for posting.

@@nookiemonster42069 Here's hypocrisy. You want to live free, but all the supplies you need to live in this dump you have to have someone manufacture or grow for you, including your drinking water. All that stuff you need to live "free" the rest of us have to supply you with. You can't grow shit there, the only water is the canal, all your food, alcohol, drugs, medicine, cigarettes, solar set-ups, everything, society made. You're only free as long as society keeps working, otherwise, that place wouldn't last one year. One dead body in the canal, that water is useless, no one to buy the aluminum and brass you scavenge from the bombing range? Worthless, if there's no one to buy it back. You can play pretend anarchy all you want until the real shit hits the fan.

I went there at the end of April. I was told it wasn’t safe for me by a core resident. There was 7 unsolved murders. I left. I was excited by a hot spring possibility! I turned around and went to El Centro. I got the impression things went the other way for the ideal. Just like Rainbow Farm and Rainbow Gathering. The term Drainbow was given to me by a founder. What do the core people think? What I think that anytime someone finds Utopia, there’s some A-hole to spoil it for everyone else.

When your talking about the BLM "art" and Seattle I gotta say I agree. All that is to me is an excuse for people to be mean, hateful, and an asshole to others. Because that is reality. That is what happened. The people didn't deserve all that shit that went on. But anger makes people blind clouds their whole view of things. smh Thanks for the video though, it was very interesting to see sculptures.

I can't believe they don't film post-apocalyptic movies and shows around the Salton Sea. I've never seen anyplace look more like a nuke or giant meteorite recently struck the area and the few remaining survivors have gathered up the rubble and cobbled together a makeshift society. EDIT - Also I love the wildly varied and often conflicting political views displayed throughout this community. I can't imagine these people all getting along peacefully.
