Classic why you use a product for a while before you pawn it off on people who trust you. Hopefully you learned a lesson on how to handle new products. Luckily yours was free but for the hard working people who actually paid and theirs broke because well the company is clearly scammers. I feel bad for the people who actually used their own money and bought one. Classic lesson for KZfaqrs and viewers don’t always trust brand new products that your being told to buy by a KZfaqr. Hopefully you get your money though maybe you can refund a few viewers in a lottery who lost their money.

The orange connectors are called Wago Connectors and are perfect for the purpose they used them for. I use them when building LED grow lamps and other home electrical installations. Just installed a 30amp line that split to two Meter Boxes using the Wago Connectors with no issues. The other things under the hood I'm curious about as well. Might have to make some of these units for my basement with my S9's I have laying around here.

THM yes I watched the full video twice lol crazy things you guys have to go through with crappy vendors, I do agree the R&D of that build I know is in the millions, now I see why they charge so much, and the fan is fully customized the two sensor from the fan goes to the miner controller board and the power to the fan comes from the AC input splitter they use the Wego221 , so they have a custom built AC fan, custom shroud, custom PSU, a close loop network, going to a WiFi and operation controller computer with custom software etc.. yes millions in R&D.! Awesome 👏 content.
@fullyelectric
@fullyelectric Жыл бұрын
Looking at the setup I think the issue is with the fan sensor I know the old S9’s had tons of them fan input was very sensitive, they should have put in fan spoofers, dummy plugs and use their external temp sensor to control the speed of the fan, you should power up the miner as standalone just remove the PSU wires from the Wego221 and put on a Nema 5-15P, also see if they put custom software on the miner, you may need to flash back stock os

Great video Patrick. Thank u for showing such detail. I got one running to keep my master bathroom warm during the winter, and it ran long enough to make 100,000 sats for the threshold payout. Their tiny default transaction fee to send it to my address got the payment stuck on the blockchain for over half a month now. In mean time it literally just stopped working. Did a hard reboot and nothing happens. Power light flashes on and then fades away and thats it. Pretty disappointed because I have a 15ft ceiling master bath and it can be chilly getting out the shower and that Heatbit perfectly took the edge off in the air. So now im left with a bulky box while I get to watch my 1st and only payout spin in a circle waiting to hopefully one day make it to my wallet. Good thing I did not pay for it as it was shipped to me for free after I got a TG msg asking me for my shipping address to send me one with out any details, requests, or demands in return, but still I enjoyed the comfortable bathroom temps and miss that now, sigh. Thanks for keeping it real with videos like this, great work!

The design is a good idea. Looked a little over built in some areas. I agree with you as far poor implementation of raspberry board/programming. I also wonder, though, if this isn't too well insulated so as to not let enough heat escape. Maybe it just overheats quickly and shuts down. If so, all that overheating probably causes permanent damage after a while.

Using mine now in January 2024. Had problems also last year but it was spring time. It was fixed just before it went to storage for the summer. With the app update, it works differently now. Instead of setting it to low medium high, you set the temperature. I did get mine at an early bird price last year so it was less than the price you quoted. I wouldn't recommend it at the price quoted either. Might be worth it if you can get it cheaper. I did order the mini so I'm waiting for that one to come. They say they are beta testing it and will ramp up production soon after. The CEO of Heatbit, Alex did a teardown video of the mini.

The orange pi is a clone of sorts of the raspberry pi, I've never have used one though, it looks like it's acting as a wifi to wired bridge, the silver cage box is a 5 volt power supply for the orange, I have one of those power supplies in my parts pile myself. If i were you it trash the orange and extra stuff, and reset the miner itself and run an network cab;e directly to it, make it it has a legit firmware and pout it back together as a wired miner.

While in the Navy, my AO1 once told don't over complicate things, and stick to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) It would be interesting to see what exactly what exactly is on that orange pi (what ever it's called) and the software that is on it that is supposed to control things.

It's absolutely hopeless, they just ask me to try the same things over and over again. They don't seem to read what I write! I have tested everything! I can't add Heatbit again because it won't create a wifi network/hotspot after the update. There is no "Heatbit network", even after a factory reset.

If I could do a startup company. I would exactly this, but I would sell fabricated kits. No miner, you have to supply the miner, but the kit fits an array of ASIC miners, with some options with kits that will fit different styles and sizes, but the outside shell is the same size. That way, you put it together and will provide adequate ventilation and dust protection. Only design problem is working on standard 120v outlets. Cause almost every ASIC miner will not run on 120v and run properly, or can damage the unit. So I dunno. So does this unit plug in to a standard 120v outlet? None the less, seems like the design almost worked. Not enough R&D I guess. They were probably trying to push it out, or found problems but wasn't willing to spend the extra R&D to fix it and just wanted to start selling units. If they would have spent the extra funds they could have had a real impressive unit on their hands and made good sales. Though it would have probably driven up the price even more. Well. Good opportunity for a new company to find the flaws and maybe produce a stable and reliable unit. Probably millions of dollars worth of R&D was already done for them.

I would advise against ordering a Heatbit Mini. I bought three of these and they found a design flaw. I'm good with that, they are fixing it. However, my purchase was made last year in September and they have them ready to ship, but chose to ship them only to influencers to sell more to people in order to keep orders coming in rather than sending the improved product to those people who supported this company and fully paid for a product yet received. They refuse to give an estimated time to deliver the product to those of us who already paid for it. No communication, no support. They said not to worry because they will pay us sats that it would have earned. I did not buy these heaters for the sats, I bought them to HEAT my home with a reduced power bill. They lost sight of that... Wait until next year to buy to see if this company is actually worth investing your money in.

you'd do better off with putting just the asic in a 10 gallon fish tank with mineral oil and an external cooler/circulator

Hmmm. Good idea. Explain more! Oil cooler instead of water cooling?

Glad you made a video about how trash the miner is after you told you’re viewers how much you support this and to go buy it. Profit before people I wouldn’t watch this shit anymore

Im sorry ... actually no Im not. I made a product unboxing and review video. Product was great for a while. Than months later made a follow up video reporting bad results after all that time. I am not a QA department. Do i need to test products for 365 days before releasing a video about it. I am sorry me making an honest follow up video for you isn't enough. Id recommend checking out other content creators in the space.

So glad I got a refund. I ordered in April 2023 and it’s September 2023 still wasn’t even made for shipping. I asked for a refund and got it. The spot etf and halving coming the days just represented diminishing returns.

How about you conduct an actual review of a product and test it before recommending it. You received it and 4 days later posted the review??? What did you do turn it on once and just “yup that’s good. I’m ready for my commission checks to roll in.”

You could have tested the product first for about a month or 2 before recommending it to your community.. You also could have instantly pulled the plug after no contact for 30 days in December but you didn't. Your community lost a lot as a result. After this video, I am way more skeptical about your recommendations.
