One of the great artists of that glorious past where there was more talent than you could shake a stick at. After the Goldrush was an early classic.

Danny Whitten, a member of Young's band Crazy Horse, died of a heroin overdose in the early 70's. Young wrote this in reaction to that.

Neil Young is The MAN. He was born and grew up in Canada, but he is now a great American. I've had the good fortune to see Neil live four times, and each show was completely different in form and content. Neil has a lot of variety in his music, from acoustic to hard edged Rock and Roll, to Country, to even Electronica. Try "Rockin' In The Free World", "Powderfinger", "After The Gold Rush", "Cinnamon Girl", "Sedan Delivery" and "My, My, Hey, Hey (Out Of The Blue)".

Important: the second verse is not meant to be Neil, but rather the *old man replying* to Neil. Then the lyrics finally make sense! I learned that *50 years* after misunderstanding the meaning of the words! Great reaction, thank you! ❤

The Needle and the Damage Done is not a happy song. It’s about drug addiction and what it does to you. Neil lost more than one friend to drug overdoses.
