yo man i was thinking yesterday about saliba and how people were calling him the most important player in our squad since we declined really badly in his absence. Do you think something would have changed if we started tierney instead of zinchenko and partey with ben white while ben white for saliba. My thought process was gabriel and saliba are both incredible at defending spaces vacated by their full backs. And when saliba got injured the space vacated by zinchenko wasn't defended very well because when gabriel steps up to defend the space, that would be holding's signal to cover gabriel's position and then partey/ben white follow up. Saliba was important because he linked the defensive from left to right since the creativity comes from zinchenko i.e the big space left by him. So what if the creativity comes from the right hand side i.e partey/saka then the space vacated by partey gets covered by white while gabriel links up the defense from right to left since he is the better center back. I don't know if the profiles of the players match this but it was just a thought that occurred to me.

Can we make sure that Arteta gets to see the videos on this channel. Not necessarily all points would be correct/agreeable, but they can give him so much to ponder and build upon. Great work, tdk!

im really glad you are willing to make a video about it, i still think that despite our great progress this season, the defense is a problem, it maybe just me but, i think arsenal need to be a little pragmatic against top sides, or when we already scored enough goals, for example : we scored 2 against liverpool and failed to win the game, thats really bad defending, outscoring the opposition is good but we need to have an elite striker to do that in every games

This is why I don't think Rice, if he moves to Arsenal, will play exactly the way Xhaka did this season. I think he will play with Partey, but Zinchenko, who I presume will be at LB, will start out wide in the first first and 2nd phase of build-up, then moved into the spaces Xhaka picked up higher up the field. That means Rice and Partey will form the midfield 2 that is controlling transition and progress the play. Rice's strengths are incredibly utilized that way. After all, Zinchenko grew up playing as a 10. So, Zinchenko's position in the defensive structure is at LB, then that transitions from out to in as he normally does but further forward this time. Rice, with his incredible athleticism and duel winning qualities, is patrolling that area with Gabriel. Quality TDK video❤.

There's a thing you missed in your analysis and something that has bugged me all season: last year, we managed to get to the very last games of the season without conceding a single goal from set pieces (ended up conceding 1); while this year, set pieces have costed us quite a few points. I thought I remembered more than 6 but I trust you for you have rewatched all of them. Now, how did the change in personnel affected this outcome? I.e. was CB Ben White better at positioning defensively in the box than Saliba? Was a more defensive Xhaka a missing feature this season? Was there a change in set piece coaching? Also Ramsdale, going from an outstanding formidable first season to the mistakes of the second you can't help but notice he played more nervously this year and more rarely displayed the tease and banter with either side fans. Of course the title race added pressure, but has something changed (personnel, coaching, else)? I was left puzzled a few times this season and I know your analytical bug will kick in so thanks in advance (also for all your great work on the channel) ✌🏻

I think we need to have depth and quality if we are to compete with City. Anyone on City's team could get injured and they won't need to worry because they have so much quality off the bench. It's impossible to compete in 4 different leagues and not pick up injuries, which is why we need quality depth.
