As for why is Jack worth 100 souls, there was a deleted scene where it was explained. Beckett hired Jack to transport cargo, which Jack finds out are slaves (100 of them), he freed them and Becket has him branded and his ship is burned. Jack wants it back so he makes deal with Davy Jones (100 years of servitude for 13 of being a captain on BP) but he was captain only, I think, two years.

I actually really enjoy the Elizabeth and Jack plot line. It's like watching the Angel and Demon on your shoulders try to influence eachother. Jack is kinda the personification of absolute freedom and adventure that Elizabeth secretly yearns for, while she is a constant reminder that deep in Jack's heart is an honorable and heroic man. Do they have that sexual tension? Yes. Is it love? Nooo! But the fact that in the end, they both embrace a bit of the others ideals really adds to their characters🤷‍♀️

The monkey still being cursed is a post credit scene from the first movie that shows him taking a gold coin from the chest. not sure how he got on Jack's ship but thats where it is! As for the souls: in At Worlds End there's a deleted scene where it's revealed Jack freed 100 slaves when he was working under Beckett in the EITC, hence why Beckett has such a grudge against him

This CGI really holds up! It's incredible how the CG in movies like this and Narnia looks so much better than some CGI now! When I tell you I watched this so many times as a kid I completely wore out the disc for it I am by no means exaggerating. The fact that it started with a Disney ride still astounds me to this day.

Fun fact about me and this film is this was my first Pirates of the Caribbean experience ever, and on the big screen too. After seeing how popular this franchise was at the time, I went back to the first film and became a fan from then on.🙂

I never thought I needed to watch a Pirates of the Caribbean movie reaction peppered with a bunch of musical theatre references until now. That was amazing 😂 Also I’d forgotten how beautiful the music for this movie is. I highly recommend that you just listen to Hans Zimmer’s amazing score independently from the movie. I used to listen to that score on a loop as a teen and it’s just breathtakingly beautiful.

for the dice game they play on the ship (it’s called liars dice) there is a really really good video by Lord Ravenscraft that not only explains the game but the whole meaning behind the scene that is so cool. It got cut down in the movie but it’s a really incredible scene!

God, I don't know how old this movie, but Davy Jones' CGI still looks incredible. And Bill Nighy is irreplaceable as Davy Jones, don't at me!

By far my favorite in the series, one of the best fantasy movies of all time in my opinion. I just love the original three movies so goddamn much.

Jack is worth 100 soils because he was once paid to escort "cargo" by Beckett, which turned out to be 100 slaves. Jack decided to free them instead which is why he was branded a pirate. Jones raised his ship after it was sunk, however it was now burnt and blackened so renamed the black pearl, so Jones thought a cruel irony would be Jack having to give up his earlier good deed of rescuing 100 innocent souls by condemning the same number to secure his own freedom. Also post credit scene from the 1st movie shows the monkey steal a piece of the aztec gold after the curse is lifted, effectively regaining it.

The reason why Elizabeth goes to Tortuga is because its the pirate hub of the region. You want to know where a smuggler or pirate or wherever is, good chance you will find at least rumours at that place.

The thing with Davy Jones saying that Jack is worth 100 souls is Davy jones mocking Jack. Jack saved 100 slaves which got him into the pirate situation in the first place.

Jack is worth 100 souls because he became a pirate by stealing a ship carrying 100 slaves and freeing them. Beckett bombarded it, and that’s where Sparrow met Davy Jones and made their deal.

The Pirates main theme is one of the most incredible pieces of music. It just tickles everything perfectly. And yes... Barbossa coming back in like that... absolute pure awesome. God that was so good when this came out. Say what you want about these first 3, but they really were on another level from what was being made at the time.

how they got the curse was not solely taking Cortez's coins, they were taken out of selfishness and greed, that's why Elizabeth was never cursed, because she took the coin to save Will. After the curse was broken, the monkey probably took another coin even though all the other ex-cursed pirates would rather die than see those coins again.

So the boat on the beach... high tide. They sail it in, anchor, tide goes out boat is beached. They then tie it down to keep it there. To get it off, untie it, high tide floats it off.

It’s been 20 years since the first one and I’m still not over how Disney turned a popular theme park ride into SUCH A GREAT MOVIE FRANCHISE (well… the first three movies at least)!!! I remember being OBSESSED with it when the first movie came out and couldn’t wait for the sequel. This series brings back so much nostalgia. I still remember waiting for what felt like years back then to watch the sequel after the teaser trailer dropped in theatres. The main/only thing I really know about Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is that the ride at Disney once at one point had real skeletons in it.
