@@PointlessInternetMan Somehow it is just so much more fun to design my island, than to play with Lego bricks building stuff. Imagine building my island out of Lego bricks. I would need a bigger house and a major fortune in Lego bricks. And I can get the custom colors that I want, often having to carry items to Harv's island to get the full customization options, but often once I have had a certain color, I can order more of that color. No random mixed color bricks, as with Lego bricks, of which there never is enough even after having bought several Freestyle sets. But sadly, my island appears to be maxed out. Hardly anything left for me to buy. No space left to build more stuff. I wish I could take 1 of my 8 human characters, and move him to another island, but I don't think it would work. The game might not give me enough warning before it erases my island. I wish I could enlarge my island or somehow fit another island onto my Switch. And I am not aware of any similar games that could let me have another island to design and keep the old island also? It seemed like it took way too long to finally get the recipe for the Flying Saucer and the Sci-Fi Floor, that can only be obtained from Celeste. I saw the Flying Saucer in a YT video, and the Sci-Fi Floor in a villager's house. I already had several of the Sci-Fi Wall. She is the lady owl that appears on starry or shooting star nights to give a recipe. One per day per character. If you wish upon stars, the next day or sometime, you find Star Fragments washed up on the beach that you can DIY craft stuff out of. But I finally got those recipes. I wanted the Ironwood Cupboard and Kitchen, yet got stuck with just one of them, when one my villagers left the island and left a piece of furniture in the Recycle Bin. Yikes, I can only have the one? The problem was, I had the recipes, but none of my human characters had the Ironwood Dresser recipe, which was needed to craft those items. I try to give recipe cards to my strongest character first, so that I don't have to wonder who has the recipe. I wish that the game could turn on "recipe sharing", so that I need not clutter my island with recipe cards lying around. At least when I need a furniture item, I can have my strongest character order or DIY craft it, and then gift it to that character's patio. When I want to gift something from one human character to another, I generally put it onto that person's patio, or along the path in a line pointing back to that person's house. I think currently, only my 2 strongest characters can DIY craft the Ironwood Dresser.

Yeah, the thumbnail was more of a joke. I was curious to see what it was like on the island since I haven’t used it in so long. But yeah, there was no penalty for not playing.

@@PointlessInternetMan There kind of IS, it's the roaches. They can reduce the quality of your island and drive off island NPCs. But it's minor.

Most every video game has no penalty for not playing. As if video games were not already addictive enough? I was hoping to see something different, but yeah, almost _well-we-knew-it_ clickbait. Such a nice guy, Mr. Tom Nook, he won't foreclose upon your house, even if you have not made a payment in years. I found the ability to quality for the next loan for a further home expansion, plenty of incentive to eventually pay off my debts. When you finally complete your house and pay it off, you unlock the ability to have extra Storage Sheds and ABDs around your island. No more having to go inside your house to get stuff out or put stuff into Storage. _The most boring version?_ I seriously doubt that, although I have not played any of the other earlier versions, because my last Nintendo game console before the Switch was the NES. Yikes, you mean that of all the games I had, I did not have that one? I love _New Horizons_ because it is a more serious game than the other versions, better graphics, but especially, my island is so extremely customizable. I suspect it would have been impossible to build my humongous amusement park and a massive castle on any of the earlier versions?

@@PointlessInternetMan So then, there is no way at all to demolish any of my 8 human user houses, like how I can demolish a bridge or an incline? No way at all to get foreclosed upon? I so need to move to a real place like that. No taxes, no utility bills, no inflation, no corrupt politicians. My entire island is powered by a few free-energy machines, what I choose to call those "science pods". Have one of each of 3 colors, for my 3-phase 480-volt island power, and then 4 pole transformers to step it down a bit to normal single-phase house voltage. Half my (max-8) houses leave the lights on 24-7, since they are themed houses: thrift stores, a meeting place for the islanders, and a Hostel for when the Campsite is full. My piped water infrastructure consists of the lake on the 3rd-level cliff, a Tank, and whatever is underneath those Manhole covers on my paths. I would make it more complicated if only I could find applicable 3-D models to place outside. There is a vast underground complex down there somewhere, as evidenced by my 2 downward stairways to nowhere. And much of the castle apparently has an underground basement floor as I see lights at night coming from the windows in the storefronts, that I hid the cliff-face upon which I set my sprawling castle. I did that, because I like the illusion of how it makes my island at least look bigger, if I can not actually make it bigger. When I play a character who does not "own" the house, the house can be entered after knocking, but nobody home, and nothing can be moved or removed or added, and the light switches do not work. So I just leave those lights on all the time so that I can see the interior better at night. And it is great for having more opportunity to catch moths that fly around the window light or the always-on porch light.
