Let me break it to you gently. No one is a fool for wanting their own business and I admire each and everyone who got up off of their ass and said "it's time to do it" and did just that. However in your case it's clear you did not have enough funding for this venture. You obviously bought too much truck and there was your first mistake. There is nothing wrong with that because failure is something you learn from regardless of the outcome. I wish you the best of luck in your financial recovery.

Glad to hear you got your many back. I had a refrigerated box truck business (two trucks, nothing to write home to momma about. lol) I had to throw in the towel this year because it became clear the rates had gotten so low only a fool or a crazy man would think he/she could make it on $1.50 per mile. I would not accept a dime less than $2.25 per mile because anything less than that meant I was carrying who's ever freight I was for free. Tolls, fuel, hotel, food ....etc cost money and when those loads started coming up 800 miles for $950-1k at best I gave up after three MONTHS of down time because of low rates. I do not look back in regret at anything because I came in funded and knew damn well the risks I was taking. I was not me nor my business plan, it was the damn brokers and what they got away with and still are is what brought me down. Take care and wish you the best.@@TeeynoTrucking

@@TeeynoTruckingI respect the fact that you went out their and tried to be an owner operator. My brother has been driving for over 25 years and has never purchased a rig. Always been a company driver. He doesn't want the responsibility or the truck payments or insurance. And he wants a brand new rig every few years paid for by the trucking company. At least you tried. It's better to try and fail than not try at all

I've about buying a truck several times over the years but i always remember one thing my, who was an independent owner operator since the 70's, told me. He said that in today's time a person should have $20,000 dollars in his account just for trucking, aside from your house money. Down payment, fuel for a month, payments and breakdowns, food and other expenses. I know that people lease trucks or finance them through their lending instructions, and the pray that nothing major happens between starting out and getting money put back. That's not a winning strategy in my opinion. Also, he always stressed to have as little debt at home as possible just in case something happens and you have to be down for a few weeks. I would like to try it but it's just too risky for me.

Sorry to say that you don't know shit unless you have actually owned a rig yourself. At least this man is trying. He made a mistake by buying a rig. So what. Plenty of people get divorced. Another mistake. So everyone makes mistakes in life. You have too I bet

If you remember this rule, whether ur self employed or employee. How much of ur take home are you saving in percentage! That's all that matters. Don't worry about the distraction of how much people make. How much do you keep is all that matters. Because that's money that gets you rich quicker. A banker friend used to tell me he knew more waiters who made a higher net worth than bankers. Because the bankers all borrowed more money to increase their lifestyle. Meanwhile the waiter saved 20% of her income.

If you bought truck from the company where you working,that is not good idea,,,,, becouse some companies after year or two,start giving you low pay loads so you can't pay your truck. Usuary 2000-2500 montly pay for truck is ok.Everuthing over 2500$ is high. If you wanna make money and have for all expences,you should work at good company,smaller or middle size,not large companie. If you don't have a family and live alone,you could live in the truck,on the road up to six months,to save money and than find your apartament,so you don't come at tide situation with the money,,,,, becouse you should always have 15000$ min for your truck repair. You should be patient and hard working driver who drive,not phylosphy lol Good luck

I gave them a 2 weeks notice and since we were short of loads they just laid me off instead of letting me work the 2 weeks.
