These few days alone in Oban were so magical and exactly what I needed - lots of time to think, ponder, sketch and just be in awe of this beautiful country that I'm so lucky to have spent this time of my life in!! :)

As one of those older folks, I can tell you that *yes*, I think we do talk to strangers a little more than younger folks do. I think it might be just that after living this long, we've figured out that there's no point in being self-conscious and you meet cool people if you just start with "hi". :)

Thanks so much for sharing! I studied abroad in England in 2017 and wanted so badly to do a trip to Scotland but only made it to Edinburgh for an afternoon. Thanks for taking us along with you! :D I hope you take more solo adventures!

Oh I definitely think you get chattier as you grow older, both wanting to connect to people, and having less anxiety about approaching people and starting a conversation, for various reasons. And surely the difference in how the world works affects a lot. Before you would have to strike up a conversation essentially no matter where you wanted to go, or what you wanted to do, but now we can buy what we want, book appointments, apply for loans etc etc without talking to anyone. Surely it affects most of us in some way or another :)

What a beautiful video Magali! I love that you took us a long with you on your drawing trip. It was also really interesting to hear you talk about the social interaction of being alone and talking to the older people about your trip. I definitely think its a generational thing! I feel like as an introvert I'd never spark up the conversation even though it sounds so wholesome and lovely. I think younger people are more guarded and perhaps less social (although we are more social on the internet!). This was a such a calming video, thank you for sharing.

thank you katie! i think you're probably right, it's so much easier to slide in someone's DM's than to start a conversation with a stranger in real life. i hope though that i will get more confident and start doing it more often, as i love when people start talking to me :)

great fun, i was at kerrera island a few weeks back, lovely to see it again. i wish you had gone up to Colin's chair with a view, its a magical place everywhere you look but the view from the chair is one you can carry about inside your head forever.

Enjoyed your artists sensibility in location and handknits, too! Wonder if folks raised with computers are less inclined, due to less practice, to go up to others and strike up a conversation. But so, too, are introverts. Nice job on the vids and soundtrack, too!

This was so beautiful and inspiring, Magali! I love traveling on my own, especially because you get to meet new people more easily. And as one of those older folks (gosh I feel old now haha) I do think it's a generational thing. We grew up without smartphones and I definitely think that's made a difference. It was either talking to someone in real life or have no one to chat with :)

Loved your video Magali, such spectacular scenery and love your way of sketching and looking at the world around you. Yes, the chatting is most likely a generational thing and you will find yourself being more chatty and open to conversations with strangers on your travels the older you get, it is a great way to learn about a place more deeply and hear stories from others. Thanks for taking us on your solo trip, here's hoping we get to view many more in future. Also loved your sketchbook in detail, so inspiring.

The drawing you made at 1:40 somehow reminded me of Ivo Milazzo's work. He's an Italian comic artist. I was introduced to his work by a friend, though it's usually in Italian and french. Not so much in English. But he's great. As is your work 🙂

Oh wow, this was so beautiful and magical from start to finish, it brought me to the brink of tears. I could tell how much this trip meant to you, the connection you made with people (and yourself^^), the places you saw (and shared with us...thanks!), the sketches and memories you made.. Scotland is a wonderful country, to me it just embodies freedom and wildness, the magic of nature. And idk, you seemed to fit right in there, I'm kinda sad to see you go - although Switzerland isn't bad either, of course, and I'm sure you'll be happy to hug your family and friends again! So have a good flight home and all my best wishes.

Thank you very much for sharing this video! The views are amazing! Somehow reminds me about our mountains in Almaty (Kazakhstan). I personally love to draw in a sketchbook while travelling too =) Watching this video made me feel like I'm there and also inspired to go somewhere and sketch at the weekend) Also I'd like to mention that your videos and reels are perfectly directed in my opinion) I mean I know that it's not easy to make such interesting videos, which people would watch till the end

Love your 2 videos. And yes the older you get the more you don’t care about things so you talk to people more. Doing things like what you are doing helps to get used to it.

hi! i can say that i felt very safe traveling alone in Scotland! but of course there's always things that can happen, so i made sure to text my flatmates every night that i'm okay and let them know where i was :)
