Mecca is a city that I’ve always wanted to visit, but unfortunately, I’m not allowed to visit as a non-Muslim. Of course, I respect the rules and the Islamic religion, so instead of physically going to Mecca, I FaceTimed my friend, Abdullah, who went there and gave me a grand tour. And it’s absolutely amazing!!!!
Have you ever been to Mecca, Saudi Arabia? I’d love to hear from you! Comment below.

My wife & I converted to Islam in 1991 and performed our pilgrimage in 2018. There was such a mix of emotions. There was a feeling of being in a place of great history, the same place where 5 millennia earlier, Abraham had built the Ka'bah, that 15 centuries earlier, Muhammad had tried to guide people to the enlightened and straight path, land that you are following in both of their footsteps. There was a very strong sense of unity of purpose -- everybody was there for one purpose and one purpose alone: to serve their Creator. There was a feeling of belonging: this is where you were supposed to be. And you were grateful to be there.

As a revert myself, going to Makkah has been one of the most emotional experiences in my life. Being from Colombia I saw this place so distant. But when I arrived and saw the kaaba I just started crying (unexplainable)... like seeing something that seemed impossible to reach, being grateful and blessed, and also feeling so much in peace with myself and my surroundings. The feeling in this sacred place is like nothing elsewhere; for those who believe, feeling the presence of our creator🙏🏻

Mashallah! I performed Umrah Hajj for the first time back in 2014. I was still a teenager then and my parents wanted all of us (my siblings and I) to experience an opportunity of a lifetime for our faith. I am not a religious person, until now I’m still not very pious. But visiting Makkah, Madinah and performing little hajj, changes your perspective. I am in my mid 20s now and Inn Shaa Allah, I wish to come back and maybe perform Hajj the next time. Thank you Drew for this. I grew up in a country where majority are Catholics (Philippines), so being respectful of religious beliefs is very much ingrained into our consciousness and it’s really heart warming to see someone doing this on such a huge platform and with a big following. ❤️ May Allah bless you always and keep you safe!

But it's also true that respecting cultures doesn't mean you can't call out the blatant hypocrisy and discrimination of not allowing non Muslims in a certain area. That's a form of apartheid, and you can only imagine the outrage the Muslim world (and their apologists) would put up if roles were reversed

It is full of an undescribable emotions I just can't hold my tears and feel so so peaceful . Its amazing to see the unity of human being in that place People from allover the world ,from different nations, colors and languages gathered together shoulder to shoulder in lines praying for one God in peace . You see them caring of each other and trying to help in any way they can even though they don't know each other . Its a Land of Love Peace and real Equality . in fact I will be there soon and can share with you a live moments in Mecca during the Holly month of Ramadan if you wish to.

2 days ago, I came to Bangladesh from Makkah and Madinah performing my Umrah with my family at the age of 18. It changed my life and I vowed not to commit any sin according to my religion. I am very thankful to my Allah because Allah has allowed my father to show us the holiest places in Islam. I saw scenes and people's unity and faith that I had never seen before. I hope all Muslims in the world will be able to go there with their beloved family members! ❤️

When Jesus died, the curtain in the temple tore from top to bottom. This signifies the barrier between God and man was gone. This means that you don’t need a priest inbetween. You can directly ask God for forgiveness. The priest cannot forgive sins for you. That’s something between you and God directly. Also, the bible says not to worship idols. In the Catholic Church, you pray to Mary etc. This idolises her and takes away from God. You should only pray to God, no one else. God bless

@@lekevire it says in the bible, “cursed are those that try to talk to the dead” Mary is a normal human being. She is not divine. You are asking Mary (the dead) to do something for you. You don’t need to do any of that. Talk to God directly. Would you pray to a celebrity dead or alive? Absolutely not, because that is idolisation. Whatever path you choose, please make sure you ask God directly for forgiveness of your sins as when the time comes, you will be held accountable for your actions because you have not asked God to forgive you, you have instead asked a man (the priest) to forgive you.

While I want to congratulate you on getting to see Mecca via your Muslim friend's facetiming the Kaaba for you, I think you should know that there's very little of the old city remaining due to the intense construction of hotels,etc. in recent years. Ironically, you probably got to see a better idea of what Mecca might have looked like in Mohammed's time by touring the ruins Al Ula (an amazing place with a fascinating history of its own).Thanks for this!
@hannan1i
@hannan1i 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t see the problem in constructing hotels and exhausting all means to make the experience of the guests of the house of Allah comfortable. I understand that not knowing what the face of old mecca looks like is a little sad it bothers me too, but the correct way of perserving this is to establish a museum that shows exact details of what the mosque looked like throughout the years along with the evolution of mecca.
@wardarcade7452

@@hannan1i I agree that it's good to have lodgings for pilgrims, I dislike that so much of the Old City was torn down for new construction instead of the original buildings being preserved with new hotels built on the outskirts. And is having skyscrapers looming over the Kaaba itself as respectful as possible to the heritage and faith of the pilgrims? I don't think so. Still, I agree that a museum showing how Mecca and the Kaaba itself were transformed from their original edifices to the contemporary appearances would be a great boon. Perhaps it could be on the outside of the city limits so those of us who are not Muslim could also view their transformations.
@wardarcade7452
@wardarcade7452 2 жыл бұрын
@@talal-alqahtani I didn't equate it to that! However, skyscrapers right next to Kaaba does give the pilgrims within the idea that the performance of their individual, personal spiritual fulfillment IS being gawked at by countless folks in the floors rising above the roof of the Kaaba's outer building. Whether one may or may not want large numbers to gawk at them during that time would be a personal choice but having the skyscrapers there compels them to BE gawked at whether or not they may individually want that. In any case, I'm glad Mr. Binksy got to see this via the facetime and to share this with those of us who will never be able to venture within.

@FactStorm
@FactStorm 2 жыл бұрын
@@passingpositivity2592 They likely won't understand though, the vast majority of humans are incapable of seeing how detrimental religious faith is (or turn a blind eye due to societal taboos). Why? Because demographically and statistically, people of faith (as a monolith regardless of their diversity) make up the vast majority of people on this planet. Christians & Muslims alone account for roughly 1-in-2 people in this world: 4 out of 7 billion humans on this planet. I for one cannot wait for the day we lift the taboo around criticizing and mocking faith without being seen as the antagonists. Whenever I ask people why they don't see antagonism in monotheistic convictions, then their hypocrisy starts to show and they resort to stating givens and appeals to straw mans such as "BuT EvEryOnE Is EnTiTlEd To ThEiR OwN BeLieFs". That's what happens when children are indoctrinated into religions, they grow up failing to reason, and as years go by, it gets more difficult to shake off religious beliefs because they become so ingrained in their psyche. Islam and Christianity are LITERALLY apocalyptic cults - they have every hallmark and trait to qualify. I bet someone as smart and experienced as Drew knows this, but he's too polite and peaceful to cause a stir. After all, the last thing a public figure would want is hostility and to lose followers. Hell, in Islam's case, it would go further and would warrant a concern for one's safety as it is not unheard of to threaten and hunt down heretics and blasphemers. I cannot and will not be a sycophant over deranged theological ideologies. Anyone who thinks Abrahamic religions present an overall rational, moral, progressive and scientific message is either indoctrinated, gullible or just downright idiotic.

I have visited Makkah twice by the grace of God and it is a place unlike any other. You will see people from ALL nationalities there united by their faith. Everyone is there for one purpose, leaving the world behind for a moment and to solely worship God. You are overcome by a sense of purpose and peace that is unmatched anywhere else and it makes you not want to leave (as if you're in the presence of God and not wanting to go back to the world, full of trials and tribulations). It is truly a beautiful and magical feeling that can only be experienced first hand. You will also meet people full of love, kindness, friendship and hospitality everywhere you go. The rest of the city immediately outside the Holy Mosque is also cool to explore as you have markets, cafés, shopping centres, fast food places and hotels around the place!

I've done Umrah when I was 14. It was an amazing experience & it feels so good to be there. I feel safe all the time. Mine you, I can just walk around by myself to & fro from the hotel & mosque. The shops will be closed whenever it's a prayer time.
