Great video! RV education for the RV owner and technician is so important thank you. I believe RV technicians should learn as much as they can. It's equally important to specialize in an in-demand and unique service. Focusing on a service is how first-time, successful repairs, are made. Happy customers become loyal customers and they will spread the word about your business. Remember, "It’s all about education, it’s easy when you know how". Good skills to you all. GBYAY!

I think my biggest takeaway was how simple most RV systems are. Now with technology and such it has made things more complicated. But the core systems are the same. Furnace, AC’s, hot water heaters. I feel that having each system explained especially 12v DC and 120v AC, has helped me to understand my RV better. We’ve been FullTime for over 2 1/2 years and this course really gave me confidence that I can fix my own rig.

Garrett, I have a question. You mentioned a recommendation for the small rvers business school. If I am planning to start my own business, would it be beneficial to sign up for this course before I come to school in Texas or wait until I am there for the morning sessions? Is there a discount code for us being there at the school to sign up?

Caveat: The lead acid batteries could last you 10 years if you take care of them AND almost never need to use them. If you boondock a lot, lead acid batteries might last 3-5 years. The more you cycle a batter (charge and discharge) the lower their life in years. Batteries are rated for "Life" in charge cycles, not years. Most are rated from 500 to 100 cycles. If you cycle your battery almost every day, or 300 times a year, that's barely over a 3 year life expectancy. Most RV'ers who don't boondock only use their batteries for their fridge while they are between parks, so very little usage. Not trying to gainsay what he was saying in the video, just want to make sure a full-time or near full-time boondocker doesn't think by maintaining their lead acid batteries they'll get 10 years out of them.
@DiaryofaFamily

If you travel a lot you also use your batteries for bringing you slides in and out and leveling. That pulls a lot of amps and creates a lot of off gassing. We have since upgraded to lithium batteries which provide much better and consistent batteries performance for us.
@brianvandy4002
@brianvandy4002 3 жыл бұрын
@@DiaryofaFamily Good point. On a related note, most Lithium installs I've seen in RV's use Battleborn. While these are great batteries they are $$$$ expensive. Typically about $900 for 100 amp hours. I watch Will Prowse and he reviewed my new target lithium battery. They are Eve or Lishon prismatic cells off Alibaba (from China). Will and others have used them and they test out as good as or better than the ads say. They are 272 to 280 amp hour batteries and for four of them (to make a 12v battery) you can typically get them for $500 or so shipped. You'll need to spend another $50 or so for a BMS and it takes 6-8 weeks for shipping to you from China, but let's do some math. Most basic Battleborn installs use four 100 amp hour batteries for about $3600. You could get four batteries worth of Eve/Lishon cells for $2000 (a huge savings) and have instead of 400 amp hours of total storage, 1120 amp hours of storage. Heck, even if you just spent $1000 on two batteries, you'd still end up with 560 amp hours, using less space, spending less than a third of what you'd spend on Battleborn batteries, and end up with 40% more battery capacity. Building your own battery with BMS is more than a lot of people want to do, but I think most would consider learning in order to get more capacity in less space, while saving $2600. Heck, that leaves me more budget to get a better inverter or more solar. Heck, that savings pays for all of my solar panels.
