◼︎In this video, I responded to feedback from my last upload, where viewers pointed out that I had visited the wrong restaurant for authentic Newari cuisine. Taking that to heart, this time I ventured to Kirtipur, a place just outside Kathmandu where the Newar community originates. There, I visited a local favorite called Sasa Twa, where I not only savored some of the best food I’ve experienced in Nepal but also gained insights into the rich Newari culture.

Kathmandu valley shines the best when Newar people have festivals going and whether it's good thing or bad thing foreigner and other people doesn't really care much about it and these things pretty goes unnoticed by foreigners😂.

@@angrymaniac53 all these jatras and festivals in the valley goes unnoticed due to their absence in calendars and lack of promotions. Even as a local, i miss many festivities and come to know about their occurrence only after seeing pics and videos in social media. The tour companies in areas like Thamel don't care about those festivals till now. They can modify their packages to include many local festivals that happen in different parts of valley

Thats pan cake type food is called Bara, a Newari Dish from Nepal, and is made from beans too, slurried black gram (mass is nepali)!

Newa cuisines are nose-to-tail drinking food and more of adventure food for foreigners. Savory but strong flavours. I hated it when I tried for first few times. Now ill happily swap fine dining for some drinking holes in the alleyways of Ason galli ... even better around khokana or bungmati 😁 Back in the days (like 25 yrs ago) there were real local drinking holes around kirtipur where no one spoke even Nepali, forget English 🤣

It was good joke since from what I have seen many old newari people actually prefer calf over fully adult because the meat is much tastier and tender. Idk if new generation actually cares that much or knows enough to notice it. It's kind of funny how they love soft skins of buffalo and if the skin is hard to chew and stuff then they automatically can tell it's adult buffalo😂
