In the summer and fall of 1877, Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce people on a four-month trek across the Rocky Mountain West, trying to escape the U.S. Army and make it to Canada and freedom.

A nicely done commentary on an American tragedy that was done to a noble and gracious people that only wanted to continue their way of life. Hard to understand the mindset of the American government at that time. Thank you.

Thank You John Smith..for confirming my OWN impression of Candy Moulton. 🌲 Her sincerity towards the Nez Perce/ THE Great Chief Geronimo @ the amazing truths behind the Chief's STORY. It shows her deep respect towards a PEOPLE / Nation that ARE truly the 1st True Great Americans. Period.

I like the way she describes her process and also the link she makes between Crazy Horse and the Nez Perce. September, 1877 was a fateful month in the American Indian struggle for independence. I will have to see about getting this book. She seems trustworthy. Edit: Just went and bought the book. This lady is the real deal. Read her profile on linked-in. Impressive. When it comes to the historical West, she knows of what she writes.

LOVE. hearing about your OWN journey....AND MAINLY the amazing journey(s) of the Great Chief @ his ppl... Yellowstone, Wallowa Valley...stunning piece of american soil..to say the least. I am STILL.pissed that Chief Joseph was NOT allowed to return to his precious Wallowa Valley to die. His last request to be buried there was NOT granted!! DISGUSTING
