A MUM has learnt to love her port wine birthmark after years of hiding it - with one cruel comment likening it to a 'dead foetus'. Kira McCracken, from Ohio, didn’t really worry about her port wine birthmark until she got to seventh grade. It was then that she asked her mum if she could start wearing makeup to cover it up. Armed with cosmetic products designed to conceal tattoos, and even an airbrush to create a smooth finish, Kira, now aged 24, would spend 45 minutes to an hour putting on her makeup every day. Her birthmark has been described as everything from a blueberry to a dead foetus and over the years Kira has learnt how to respond to the comments and stares she's received. By the time she hit her Freshman year, encouraged by her group of supportive friends, Kira stopped covering up her birthmark. Now a mother, she wants to show her six-year-old daughter and partner, Dominic that it's ok to be herself.

As cruel as it is, it is actually human behavior to reject what we do not consider attractive. Not saying it is right, but it's normal. I am sure you have thought that someone is ugly, you may not have said it, but you have thought it. Don't deny that. We all have.

Sure we all have our own opinion on what we think is attractive and NOT attractive. But i don't bully people, nor have i EVER bullied someone for looking or being different. I was raised to know better. And for that, i am grateful. And i raised my boys to be the same way. They both have very kind and generous hearts. Nothing TO deny.

Lying is just as cruel as saying rude things to someone's face. She knows she's not "most beautiful bestest lookin women evahh!" However, this defect does not make her ugly at all. It makes her unique, which is always a good thing. Being different doesn't automatically make you beautiful though - it's thrown around just to be nice with no weight to it. "Everyone's beautiful!" How someone looks is purely ones opinion and can vary greatly.

I'm sorry godspeed what? You just saw a woman say she looks in the mirror and sees a beautiful person who's a great mother and a great partner! What God who let blood vessels bleed in a baby is feeding her through what? You want her to die sooner or you want her to I'm so confused by your God speed it doesn't fit the situation at all. Everything she's done she's done herself she's a strong woman! If women were put in power places in the world the world would be a far better place. When there are natural disasters there are a few relief groups that go in and get the women and children settled and of course they give the man food and water but they make sure that the shelters are built and the infrastructure of the area is settled by the women first and everything else just falls into place naturally. Because women get things done women are strong resilient and can run any household or anything that needs to be taken care of. These groups started out by helping men 1st and it just made a mess and nothing fell into place that's when someone else came in and said can we persuade you to try this and it worked so when you put men into Power there's nothing but fighting Power struggles Etc. Women only rely on their beauty because men put it there too weak and numb we even still make cartoons with women fighting each other there's a brand new one right now with a female unicorn and a female Pony ripping each other apart in a female way that were used to seeing. Because women have started to be more comfortable with themselves and their finding that they're quite powerful the world doesn't want that. It's very sad. We can't breathe our air drink our water our world is dying our mother earth. Everybody gives power to An Invisible Man that we really don't know exist. But the world that we can actually see in touch with her own eyes we crap on. Mother Earth is resilient but people should have more respect for it and others and these kind of subjects wouldn't even need to be talked about it would just be a given that she's beautiful. She should have known that from day one and it breaks my heart that she didn't. I did go down a rabbit hole a bit. At least for the General Public. But start studying groups that go into natural disaster areas that take care of the Women & Children First and look at the statistics and you'll know what I'm talking about. And there are other sources of empowering women and what happens to the world when you do young girls are powerhouses when they're given the tools to change the world they're pretty unbelievable!

She already learned to love herself and have a supporting husband , family, and daughter.. they are blessings from God so she can get through her life happily without any insecurity again.. 💯

One of the most important things that people can be is being comfortable in their own skin. Which doesn't literally mean your skin literally spot for spot it means overall. Your personality your way of treating other people is included in that skin. So if you're happy because you treat other people well and you're happy because you've made a good life for yourself and others fan you're as beautiful as it gets. I remember feeling that way to where I didn't notice anything that would have been considered a flaw about myself until just recently in life where some bad things all happened at the same time and when I say bad I mean excruciating. With no way to deal with those things I have become very uncomfortable in my own skin and feel horribly ugly. The strange thing is his people can see those days when I feel the worst and they can see the days that I feel better everybody knows this feeling if they think about it. The bottom line is is this was hard as a child and I'm sorry I wish I would have been my age and known you back then when people were being mean. I'm glad you have pulled yourself through life and figured out that we all have something different. And hopefully we'll figure out the coping skills to deal with it. Just like race we all noticed somebody looks different than us for a few seconds but after that it goes away and we're just looking at another person this is to me the same I don't even notice it after seconds. That's the difference between people accepting people for who they are and not what they look like even before you met them. It's hard to explain on a space on KZfaq. But I hope what I'm saying makes sense to somebody and maybe changes the way they look at other people.

Unfortunately people judge your physical before you even get to speak. I remember being a very girly girl at school but I was a boy so people automatically felt they had the right to call me names. When you let go and just be you it’s the best. I wish her all the best in life and that her dreams come true.❤️❤️❤️

I myself also have a distinctive birth mark on my face and I've struggled alot with it growing up because I used to get bullied alot. But watching this video has helped give me some strength to really love myself. Ik I have to ignore the ignorant, and not give attention to the people who say things out of ignorance. I feel what she goes through because I have a birthmark on my face and I really stuck up to everyone who judged for the way I looked. This hits really close to home and I just am really proud for who I am. 💗The first time I saw my face I really didn’t like it, but once I got older I realise I love who I am and I think other people should too because everyone is beautiful the way they are. 💗💗💗

Such and inspiration, love the confidence you've developed. Sometimes it is so hard. When I had cystic acne I didn't interact with anyone and wouldn't go to class without a bunch of foundation on while covering my face with my hair. Achieving self acceptance is easier said than done, I admire you so much for overcoming your insecurities. You're really such a role model.

Mine was in the center of my forehead it was way smaller compared to hers basicly non existent. Over time as my face got bigger it shifted and faded. Now you can't see it.

I have this birthmark but on my scalp. I grew my hair long to hide it, and I used to be so afraid of people doing my hair. Every time someone does my hair, they point out my birthmark and it makes me feel super self conscious. I thought I was the only one with this birthmark, so watching this made me feel like I was not alone. Thanks for sharing your story! I hope that one day birthmarks are normalized and not seen as a ‘flaw’ or a ‘problem’.

All those ppl that where rude to her or just was even rude in a small way you can not do that that is not ok she is more prettier than those rude ppl she is stronger and I hope in the future she will get better and I wish the best for her in life

I knew a kid in high school who had a port wine birthmark on his face. He had the best personality, and was one of the most popular people in school.

I can relate to this so much. It was around 6th grade that I started to feel self-conscious about my birth defect (I have Tuberous Sclerosis, that can cause benign tumors to grow throughout the body as well as skin issues like tiny bumps on the face). I had laser surgery in 6th grade and haven't since. I used to pile on makeup in junior high because of insecurities. It is amazing how much time & maturity can change your perspective. I so admire you and I'm glad you're happy and have accepted yourself, I wish that for everyone.

Some ppl seems to be very beautiful and sexy but if their soul is bad and black , ungly trust me really I tell you ! I think the part with her daughter looking into her face and saying "mommy, you are beautiful!" Was such an endearing truth. Because mommy's show you the most love (or they're supposed to) They give selflessly and love you no matter what. When we love others "no matter what" it makes us beautiful. Beauty from the inside never fades, and if you build it up, it only gets more beautiful with age. What a courageous, beautiful, strong woman!! Your family is truly blessed to have you in their lives❤

My mom has a birth mark on her face too, people bullied her still to this day and she is 52 years old... people would say “ did someone punch your face ?” And when I was little, teenage girls would come up to my mom and comment on her face and make jokes ... when I see my mom, I think she is so beautiful and I forget that she has one. She stopped wearing makeup too and she doesn’t care and she prays for everyone that hurts her. I’m so happy for this girl, she deserves all the happiness and love. God bless her family 💖 she is absolutely beautiful!

Honestly, port wine stains are one of those not “conventionally attractive” things that I’ve always loved. There was this girl in my class growing up that had this beautiful port wine stain that went diagonally over her face and down her neck. I always thought it looked like paint spilled out on a canvas, or a galaxy across her face.
