A man who passes business on to friends or employees is a sign of a person’s character. I would’ve suggested the fire pit that hangs of the back end of the slab, furthest away from the house because it’s safest and also leaves 95 percent of the patio for any kind of use but you’re the gentleman running the show and know what you’re doing.

Tears in my eyes I graduated from high school and went to work in Berlin as a au pair in 1968 before the Wall came down in. My brother was stationed there in the army. Just a height of Vietnam. I just remembered Berlin. Living through John Kennedy's speech ich bin ein Berliner . Your kids should start counting wars. I think in true Victory style, you should name the cat after the boss - Darryl. In the UK, and I think a bit more so in Wales, Darryl is used as both a male and female name. You should go with that.

I was given an old business lesson many years ago. You can have 2 of the 3 options. Price, quality, or service. Which 2 do you want? There are tradeoffs in each one. I always valued each of my vendors and their services and knew that with quality and service comes with a price. That being said I think my vendors respected that we both wanted value for those services. Hope this makes sense.

I work at a place called Bunnings here in Australia, and we lock up ours, cause kids were stealing the paint and sniffing it to get a high. Thankfully that doesn’t happen as much. Now it is to defer thieves from stealing.

I really enjoy watching your videos as they’ve given me a better understanding of the concrete business. I am the senior appraiser and Op Manager for a valuation services company that provides commercial, condo and hospitality properties in Florida and the US🎉 with a replacement cost of buildings and amenities for insurance purposes. Long story short, our valuation is what an insurance carrier uses to set values for an insurance policy for both wind and flood. The insurance market here in Florida is absolutely ridiculous and will be worse now that hurricane Ian has had an effect on a portion of the state. Anyhow, I thought I’d drop you a line to let you know how much I appreciate you taking the time to produce these videos. i love being a concrete finisher and anything to do with concrete....thats why ive never started my own business. its not that i couldnt, it because i love finishing and i know if i started a business, id have to do the other things more than just the finishing. plus the paper work....the endless paper work. id have a hard time trusting someone to manage my taxes and other paperwork while id work. i said if id ever win the lotto, id give older people who needed new concrete for free and just help people however i could with my trade. THATS how much i love my profession. ryan, question. did you ever just try rolling on your cure? thats all ive ever done and have great results. i use a roller and pan, just like painting. and for cutting in, i use those corner rollers that are kinda wedge shaped and i get right up to almost everything. i know everyone has their way, i was just sharing mine. a piece of the berlin wall....WOW!!! that is the ultimate gift for a concrete guy!!! i remember watching that on tv and discussing it in school and what it meant for the world. you know, back when they taught cursive writing and had classroom discussions about current events and the impact it would or wouldnt have on our lives and what it meant for history. anyway, great vid ryan. you keep putting them up and ill keep watching. thanks.

Ryan, always video when out & about, you got your camera on your cap🧢so you can always be hands free from holding a camera. Covers you in what you said they said can always reference back to . You don't have to use for KZfaq Programing. Your covered in your business & life. Same goes for video tape'n when driving. You many never need any of it, but the one time ya do, you & other party is covered. I know the times of always having our lives covered to maintain the quality of life we are living. 8 years ago Ryan had my front stoop steps 7 in all concrete solid, with at the top, front door 4/4' level & my wheel chair ramp done, about 10 feet over. The experience was terrible, but where I live, they were the best possible. They never put sealant down on the concrete & I did not realize until later. It has been 8 years & the concrete is fine, how long can ya go & still apply sealant? You & your family take care always & all who work for you. Darrel seems like a really good kid, I pray he finds his way before it's to late. I feel for him because I had family members over weight that passed away. Someone really needs to get him some help before he dies from a heart attack or diabetes.. My cousin had a stomach reduction and his life is 1mil times better.

I won't pretend to know the concrete business but I do know my own field and what has led to our companies success. We started 5 years ago with my boss, and 3 of us other laborers. He quickly realized there was no point in owning the business while also being a laborer. We do contract work and our business model is about quality which is what makes us stand out over the national companies. My boss sat me down after the first year when we took on enough contracts to double the size of the company. He tripled my salary and made me the operations manager. He actually got audited by the IRS because he paid himself less than me. I took care of the employees, equipment, supplies etc, while he took care of the business side. He was the salesmen and the money guy. We went from 3 employees and 4 contracts to 28 employees, two operation managers, 3 district supervisors, and 34 contracts. He's had multimillion dollar buyout offers but why would he take them when it's running like a well oiled machine that keeps on paying out. His number one piece of advice to any other owners would be to delegate more. Burnout is real and will crush any owner even after years of success. His dad was a prime example. The same business we built up was once twice as large as it is now under his dad and between selling out to the wrong company that went bankrupt and him getting burnout, it was down to nothing when we got it.
